Ok, so, Joseph Martin got his powers the same way any normal comic character gets their powers: some type of explosion. In his case, a gene-bomb that caused his flesh to turn invisible. I'm assuming not his whole flesh considering this figure is based upon an image where his arms are bare. Guess they just wanted a Ghost Rider type character. Well, of course, he ended up going crazy and took up the moniker of Atomic Skull, based upon his favorite movie serial. He ended up thinking Lois Lane was the Atomic Skull's love interest, so he did numerous battles against Superman over her. Continuously lost, but kept coming back. That's dedication. lol With the launch of New 52, he's so far only really been seen as an inmate in a maximum security prison in Deathstroke. Not sure if he's appeared elsewhere yet. Loved how the game portrayed his traditional green armor, but liked the black variation even more. One of the characters I've never had any desire to make was Lex Luthor, but this game turned me around. I, almost immediately, went hunting for a body to fix him up. I already knew the design I wanted to. I loved the red and black layout, but wanted more of the red lines. The biggest problem, not surprisingly, came from the portion around the head. I sculpted it twice and this was honestly the better of the two attempts. I kept trying to sand it down, but it just wouldn't level out properly. Might have if I had more time for it. The Infinite Heroes Luthor head was too small, but I had a Professor X on hand for a while that I wanted to use for a Luthor custom and after just a little dremeling it fit perfectly. ![[Lobo] Lobo is one of those characters I've wanted to make forever. But, being as there are so many great customs of him out there, I felt that I couldn't do him proper justice. Well, last week he was added to the Injustice roster, and I figured that was as good a time as any to make him. I already had some ideas on how to pull him off, like using Kraven's legs, Whiplash hands, Logan jacket, and Undertaker head, so assembly wasn't too difficult. I played around with various complex ideas, but in the end decided to go with a simpler look. Of course, I was even contemplating making his original purple spandex look, but opted out pretty quick. lol Lobo was also originally created as a parody of Wolverine, and ended up becoming one of the most popular comic characters in the 90s. Interestingly enough, he was subsequently parodied himself by Marvel in an issue of Deadpool, not to mention Image and others, as well. The head kept bugging me, and I knew I wouldn't be happy until I went back and made one properly. I kept looking the picture over and decided that X-23's hair would probably be my best bet. Then I had to worry about the face. Bullseye? No, but Daredevil had a straight, stern expression that I liked. Of course, the hair wouldn't fit on his head, so I spent forever sanding the back almost completely down, then the top of his head so the hair would fit lower, and finally the sides just a little so it would sit flat without looking awkward. Still not entirely perfect, but a 100% improvement over how he looked previously. I took a ton of pictures of him too. At least a dozen. Following Superman's death, they did the Reign of the Supermen, but then decided to bring back the Man of Steel. The design wasn't the greatest, but I did like Superman in a black uniform. Since I've been going down the list, making characters similar to their Injustice variations, I wanted to do a Green Lantern. I didn't manage one in my first batch, but Sinestro seemed like a great choice for the second batch. So, having the necessary parts, I decided to add him to my list. I've never kept up too well with the character, but I understand that his New 52 reboot really made him interesting again. Well, my goal was to make the original look from the comic, so I dug it out and really tried to work out the different colors on his boots, his emblem, his sleeves, and exactly what shade his costume itself was. Once I worked all that out, he came together well. My only personal issue is the belt. For the sake of time and being in the flow, I painted the emblem on his belt, but I'm wishing now I had sculpted it on. It doesn't look right. Though, I was greatly disappointed we didn't get a chance to play as him. I wanted to go about it basically the same way I went about my first Nightwing. Go for more of a comic styled look. So, this time, I took some liberties with the design. I liked the fact that he had red on his gauntlets, but not all the way up his arm, so I tried to do a style of that, adding red to the back of each individual finger, as well. Then, I took the batons and put red in the grooves, as well. I think that really added to those. I worked on the body all week, playing with different looks, then rescrubbing and painting another look. When I was finally happy with it, I realized I had no head planned. The orphan girl taken in by Wonder Woman and raised and trained by the amazons. I couldn't decide, so I opted to make both. My work on eyes still isn't great, but I have definitely improved a bit from where I was a few months ago. Also, looking at the reference picture now, I notice I forgot her silver armband. Never noticed that until now. Anyway, the design was simple than Cassie. White dots over black certainly wasn't too difficult. I always thought she was a good Wonder Girl, and liked the fact that she was the half god daughter of Zeus. So, with me choosing to delve more into DC as of late, I knew I had to put her on the list to make. Overall, a very simple design. Even the emblem on her shirt was simple enough to pull off. I tried sculpting on a hairband for her, which I do find to be the only weak point of the character. I didn't have a whip on hand, or else I would have painted it golden and attached it to her side for the lasso. So, sadly, that part is missing. Picked up a new Armored Steel paint that actually applies way smoother than my last bottle did, so outside of trying to paint that chest emblem, he was fairly easy to finish. Nathaniel Christopher Adams was an air force officer who volunteered for Project: Captain Atom. He was basically supposed to test an alien ship's capability of surviving a nuclear blast. Because people are always rushing to volunteer for such projects, right? He and the ship ended up disappearing, returning about 18 years later with the ship bonded to him. ![[Mary Marvel] Which I made the decision to go ahead and make Black Adam, I knew I had to make Mary Marvel right alongside him. I never particularly cared for the Marvel Family, but I loved this look for her. Supergirl had recently taken a black look before going to the ridiculous Corrupted Supergirl look, and I thought it looked awesome, so seeing Mary Marvel go the same route was pretty cool. Mary, however, had recently lost her powers and ended up gaining the powers of Black Adam. I think that's essentially how it went down. And it lasted for a while too. The look was easy enough to pull off, although I'm not too happy with the head. The face matched perfectly until I actually painted it up. And I wish I had a more befitting hair on hand to work with. She's popped up less and less over the years, not really doing anything at all until the 2010 Carnage mini. Which, of course, ended with her in a coma with brain damage. I went back and forth over what design to use, and maybe it was the superb art that made me go with this one. I should have used ROC Helix hair, more befitting, but I had already planned on using Black Widow, so I ended up just sticking with that. Oh well. I always thought she was a good villain who should have caused more troubled for Spidey on her own, manipulating the emotions of crowds and whatnot.
