![[12" Barracuda Figure from Punisher MAX] "Gimme the pig." It's Barracuda, the best and most fearsome enemy from Garth Ennis' Punisher MAX series. Underneath his jovial exterior, lies a cunning and utterly ruthless intellect shaped by war and a horrific upbringing. He's the only man who could consistently go head-to-head against the Punisher and win (at least temporarily)
This was a figure that I've wanted in my collection for over 3 years (ever since the character appeared in the comics). It took me years to figure out a workable recipe and that would give the exaggerated look like in the comics. His hands and legs are smaller as that's the way Goran Parlov draws him in the comics!
One thing I hate about most 1/6th scale (12") muscle bodies is their limited articulation. So with this figure, I wanted to do extreme muscle but show that articulation could be maintained (ie, double jointed elbows!)
Head: WWE Booker T (recast, removed hair & sculpted new dome)

They're great, but I wanted something different, so I based mine on Goran Parlov's artwork. I love Parlov's artwork on the Punisher Max series and Marvel Universe vs The Punisher. He's like a modern John Buscema, Joe Kubert and classically trained European comic artists all rolled into one. He can tell a story visually perfectly, he gives every character a different face and draws them consistently, and he can just draw *everything* well. His art feels both modern and classical simultaneously. Quite frankly, his work renewed my love for comics.
Anyways, although Parlov's rendition of Punisher has evolved, he always gives Frank a big neck, tree trunk arms, and a face that looks like a handsome guy who got old, stressed out, and pumps iron like mad. So those are the elements I wanted to include in mine. Body: Rotocast Spiderman, DC Direct 13" foreams & biceps, DID lower torso
Clothes: Shirt & gloves are hand sewn, while pants are misc brand with additions
Painted for an animation look that's somewhere between anime and american comics.
My impression of Yamazaki is huge broad chest, thick tree trunk arms (so not rounded biceps so much as solid plank), and long legs. In the end, I got the style I wanted, though I found out too late that he's supposed to be taller than Geese. I might redo with taller legs another day, though I'm satisfied with the current style. He's probably about 12" while the Geese is about 12.5".
The tongue and rolled back eyes are a big part of the Yamazaki style to me, so they had to be included!
The crow is a nod to the earlier KOF games, which always had black crows milling about ominously in the background for some reason.](userimages/customs/26000/25949-1.jpg) Ryuiji Yamazaki - King of Fighters Fatal Fury King of Fightersby ZombieKevHead: McFarlane Gene Simmons bust

Geese's outfit was completely custom sewn. I always pictured Geese in my mind has a gigantic imposing figure, though checking the official stats, it looks like he's only 6' tall. Huh. Anyways, I went for my own interpretation, so he's super muscled up. I was going for a simplified animation look, but not anime.
I love the King of Fighters videogame series. It's uncompromisingly old school and hardcore, and it's the only game in town (almost) for 2D pixel art. The character designs are wild and super cool. They don't make them like this anymore.
Anyways, aside from a few obscure commercial figures, there have never been many 12" figures from this series, despite the huge roster of characters. 12" is really behind when compared to the tons of amazing KOF customs that the 6" customizers have made over the years.
