![[Utrom] TMNT Utrom, based on the unreleased NECA/4 Horsemen prototype. Full sculpt in Milliput - had to simplify the sculpt a little to make it easier to mould, but I think I got the essence down pretty well.
Now, just got to start casting these little buggers...](userimages/customs/49500/49085-1.jpg) Utrom | ![[Hellcat] A rare use of a DCUC figure from me, but Cheetah just seemed perfect for Hellcat...
Had to rebuilt the hip joint as they were fused, added double elbow & knee joints from X-23, put in some rocker ankles (with great range), sculpted the mask and finished it off with a nice bold paintjob. Simple, but effective.](userimages/customs/49000/48664-1.jpg) Hellcat |
![[Phoenix] A few people wanted me to make a Phoenix to go with my Excalibur customs, so here she is...
Mostly ML Hope with X-23 fists, Star Sapphire feet and fodder ankles (gotta get those all-important rocker joints in there!). Sculpted the hair and added a little meat to her thighs & shins. Getting the spikes cut and inset was a pain in the bum, but other than that she was pretty simple...](userimages/customs/48500/48079-1.jpg) Phoenix | ![[Meggan] Couldn't let my Captain Britain custom get lonely, so I made Meggan to go with him. Wanted a decent-sized base figure (which meant ML females were right out), so I tried to cram some more joints into the under-articulated WWE female base.
She's mostly Beth Phoenix, with Valkyrie biceps, Deadpool lower thighs, Wolverine knees, Angel shins, Weapon X feet, Storm hair. Did some major resculpting on the legs, resculpted the mouth, ears & brow, shaved the feet down to make them a little more feminine, sculpted the turtleneck. She's nice and thick, maybe a little tall but she looks good with Brian...](userimages/customs/48000/47644-1.jpg) Meggan |
![[Captain Britain] I'd wanted to make Brian for a while, but as much as I love his modern look there's really only one Captain Britain costume for me - the classic white suit with the Union Jack stripes. I've loved that costume since I was a lad, reading Alan Moore & Alan Davis' run in "The Daredevils" & "Mighty World Of Marvel" (showing my age there!).
WWE Elite guy (no idea which one), Super-Skrull shins & feet, Captain America gloves, DCUC Flash fists and Yellowjacket head. Sculpted the helmet & lower legs, used thin rubber for the knee flares, then finished off with one of the most time-consuming paintjobs I've ever done...](userimages/customs/48000/47643-1.jpg) Captain Britain | ![[Nighthawk] Another Bucky Cap repaint - this time, Nighthawk, one of my favourite Marvel characters. DCUC Flash head, Beta Ray Bill cape cut down and sculpted over, and a paintjob. Nice and simple.](userimages/customs/47000/46805-1.jpg) Nighthawk |
![[Lockjaw] This was probably the most difficult custom I've ever made, not to mention time consuming - 2 1/2 years from start to finish! I was originally going to use the Little Nicky bulldog that most people use for Lockjaw, with the intention of adding articulation. When I got it I found it was hollow, and thus useless - I would have to build him myself!
He's essentially a full sculpt over a fodder skeleton with resin cast feet. Most of the joints were transplanted from other figures, but the hips (rear shoulders? Whatever they're called on a dog) and ankles were scratchbuilt. All in all, he's got ball & socket ankles & torso, cut shoulders and a swivel/hinge neck - more than enough.
He's not perfect - I'd love to go back and make an improved version, if I had the time & money - but he's good enough for my display!](userimages/customs/46500/46070-1.jpg) Lockjaw | ![[Gorgon] This was another of my entries for last winter's Custom Con. He's mostly SOTA Guile, with wrestling figure hands, X3 Juggernaut feet and a Mr. Sinister head. The collar and headpiece are styrene, and the shoulder wrap is from Dr. Strange's cape.
He was pretty simple to put together, until it came to the legs... The haunches are fodder limbs, sculpted over, and I added new-style rocker joints in the feet.
The base is foamboard, with the backing removed and the texture carved & scored in - he can stand without it, but looks much better on it!](userimages/customs/46500/46067-1.jpg) Gorgon |
![[Magneto] My ML3 Mags broke after a shelf dive and I had a spare Flash, so I thought I'd have a crack at the now-standard DCUC-based Magneto. Boots, belt, cape, head & helmet are from the Legends figure, hands are from Luke Cage and Iceman. Gave him an all-over spray of red, tried adding some subtle shading (which is probably a little too subtle) - not bad for my first attempt at airbrushing. All in all, a nice quick project that looks tons better than the old ML version.](userimages/customs/46000/45738-1.jpg) Magneto | ![[Batroc the Leaper] I love Batroc. Been meaning to make him for years.
He's mostly an old Toybiz TNA wrestler (no idea who, sorry) with FO Punisher boots. Resculpted his face and gave him a suitable French smirk and his twirly moustache. Not much else to say, really...](userimages/customs/45500/45375-1.jpg) Batroc the Leaper |
![[Sin-Eater] All Bucky Cap, with a Bullseye head. Pretty simple. Added fodder pouches & a police badge, made shotgun out of fodder & styrene tube.](userimages/customs/45500/45374-1.jpg) Sin-Eater | ![[Spider-Man] Another CustomCon entry, and not the most original custom I've done, but it was an excuse to use up the huge pile of Spidey parts sitting in my fodder bins... No idea where the parts came from - the torso's a MacFarlane Spidey, the head's from the Sinister 6 figure and there's parts from at least 3 other Spidey figures in there. Modded the hips, ankles, ab crunch and shoulder pivots to give more range of motion, and added double wrist joints - I think he's one of the most posable Spider-Men around!](userimages/customs/45500/45199-1.jpg) Spider-Man |
![[Cyclops] This was one of my entries for this winter's CustomCon, over at The Fwoosh. Pretty simple, all Bucky Cap with a headcast from an old Cyclops custom of mine. Hardest part was getting the wrists and ankles rub free - yellow's a bugger to paint...](userimages/customs/45500/45198-1.jpg) Cyclops | ![[Casey Jones] Another Casey Jones, using a tried-and-tested recipe. Savage Dragon legs, WWE figure upper body & arms. Masked head is a cast, unmasked head is a full sculpt (not great, unfortunately). Sculpted the hoodie, and crotch area. Made weapons out of wooden dowel, styrene sheet and metal rod, seperate mask is styrene heated & shaped to fit, bag is from a movie Casey figure. Gave him a paintjob that's kind of a mash-up between his original Mirage look and the first Playmates figure, and done.
Not particularly original, but I think he looks good anyway...](userimages/customs/45000/44825-1.jpg) Casey Jones |
![[The Shredder] Another Shredder... I have a habit of making these things. This one was part of a set with the Foot ninja, and uses much of the same parts.
TNA Sonjay Dutt base, ML Super-Skrull shins & feet, TNA figure's arms and DCUC Doc Midnite hands. The unmasked Oroku Saki head is a resculpted ML Forge.
The armour was a pain to make, as usual. I first put a base layer of Green Stuff down, which was then cut & sanded to shape. Then I put a layer of Apoxie over that, into which the styrene blades were inset. The helmet is a styrene base sculpted over in a blend of GS/Apoxie. The armour restricts the shoulder articulation somewhat, but on this figure aesthetics were more important that keeping it fully-posable.](userimages/customs/41500/41252-1.jpg) The Shredder | ![[Foot Ninja] This was a fairly simple custom. TNA Sonjay Dutt base, with feet from a ML Sabertooth and hands from a WWE figure. Sculpted the clothing, made a couple of swappable heads for variety and made a veritable arsenal of weapons out of wooden dowel, styrene and very fine chain. Finish it off with a NECA-inspired paintjob, and done!](userimages/customs/41500/41251-1.jpg) Foot Ninja |
![[Agent Phil Coulson] Originally had this finished and ready to post when Raybot posted his, which prompted me to give it a bit of a re-work. First headsculpt I did looked more like Kevin Spacey, this one's better but still not dead-on. I don't think anyone's really nailed the Clark Gregg likeness yet...
Gave him a few appropriate accessories - a little gun, a big experimental gun, and a couple of packs of his favourite donuts (from the "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Thor's Hammer" short). Also added toe joints, rocker ankles and ball-and-socket wrists for more posability.](userimages/customs/40500/40454-1.jpg) Agent Phil Coulson | ![[Rogue] Hope Summers base, with Mystique shins, XMC Rogue head & jacket and Anne O'Brian hair. Added rocker ankles (it's a compulsion).
Basically another excuse to try out the new Citadel paints - this time, yellow. I normally avoid this colour whenever possible, but it turned out great...](userimages/customs/40000/39607-1.jpg) Rogue |
![[Viper/Madame Hydra] Finally got me a Madame Hydra, and she's as ugly as everyone says. A lot of that's down to the hairdo IMO - just did not suit her. The lack of paint and stoned expression didn't help...
Just gave her face & arms a repaint, and added hair from Hope Summers. Just a quick 20-minute job, but I think she looks a lot better.](userimages/customs/39500/39415-1.jpg) Viper/Madame Hydra | ![[Iron Patriot] Obligatory Iron Patriot custom made from stealth Extremis. Really just an excuse to try out Citadel's new paints, but I increased the range of movement in the torso & hips, and added rocker ankles whilst I was at it.](userimages/customs/39000/38937-1.jpg) Iron Patriot |
![[Shadowland Daredevil] Dead simple, basically the Bullseye/Havok/Quicksilver body with a cast from FO Daredevil. Billy clubs are styrene rod and wire, articulated wrist blades from X-23.](userimages/customs/39000/38936-1.jpg) Shadowland Daredevil | ![[Casey Jones] Another Casey, 90% identical to the last one I made. Savage Dragon legs & crotch, TNA figure torso, WWE figure arms & cast of my original Casey head sculpt. Shortened the figure by just over 1/2" to make him more in scale with the NECA figures, and made weapons from wooden dowel, steel rod and styrene.](userimages/customs/39000/38747-1.jpg) Casey Jones |
![[Kato] I'd never heard of this version of Kato before I started on this custom - it's based on the Dynamite Comics Green Hornet series by Kevin Smith.
Base was DCUC Star Sapphire, with ML Wasp arms and feet and SOTA Cammy hands. Lower part of the jacket is rubber sheet, everything else is sculpted. Added swivel/rocker joints in the feet to help with the kung-fu poses, although the coat restricts the hips quite a bit...](userimages/customs/39000/38746-1.jpg) Kato Green Hornetby Highmore StudiosI'd never heard of this version of Kato before I started on this custom - it's based on the Dynamite Comics Green Hornet series by Kevin Smith.
Base w...12 comments | ![[Absorbing Man] Just put the legs from a Mattel WWE guy onto the Hasbro Absorbing Man, and a repaint. Too lazy to put the stripes on the pants. At least he's got rocker ankles now.](userimages/customs/38500/38087-1.jpg) Absorbing Man |
![[Squirrel Girl] Not much needs to be said about Squirrel Girl. She's awesome. She's quite possibly my favourite superhero...
ML Psylocke body with Wasp head. Sculpted the costume details (kept the forearm swivel under the fur), hair and mouth. Tail is a poseable armature made from random limb parts, under faux fur - there's 4 POA in the tail. Squirrels were from some Playmobil set.](userimages/customs/37000/36925-1.jpg) Squirrel Girl | ![[Black Panther] Made from assorted DCUC Mr Terrific, Hourman & Doc Midnite parts. Unmasked head is from Mr. Terrific, masked head is an original sculpt. Pretty simple.](userimages/customs/37000/36924-1.jpg) Black Panther |
![[Spider-Ham] Full sculpt in Apoxie, with fodder joints & feet casts from MU Juggernaut. 7 POA - ball neck & hips, pin/disc shoulders and cut wrists.](userimages/customs/37000/36523-1.jpg) Spider-Ham | ![[Dazzler] ML Wasp with Psylocke feet. Right hand is from X3 Phoenix, left from a Spidey figure. No idea where the forearms were from (made this custom months ago), possibly Valkyrie. Sculpted the hair with Apoxie. The "light blast" is a clear plastic toothpick, heated to fit around Dazzler's fingers. Finished off with a subtle pearl-essence paint job that doesn't want to show up in the photos, so you'll have to take my word for it...](userimages/customs/36500/36246-1.jpg) Dazzler |
![[Thundra] Pretty much the same recipe everyone else uses - LCBH Ann O'Brian. Upper arms are from a WWE chick, boots are Luke Cage, hair is Ms. Marvel. Re-sculpted the face and torso a little and embedded magnets into her hands and right forearm so she can hold her chain/club thingy, which is a length of metal chain with some kind of screw-in cylinder that I found. Not totally comic accurate, but it looks good.](userimages/customs/36500/36245-1.jpg) Thundra | ![[Wolverine] Another CustomCon entry, and a costume that doesn't seem to be popular amongst customizers. Could it be that sculpting all that bone trim is a huge pain in the arse? Probably. Anywhoo, Weapon X body, Ninja Wolverine head, 2-pack Wolverine hands, random fodder forearms & feet. Quite like the paintjob on this one, I normally shy away from too much shading but I think this figure called for it...](userimages/customs/35500/35040-1.jpg) Wolverine |
