![[Shadowhawk] I've wanted to do an improved take on Shadowhawk for quite some time, as every one of his last three retail figures never quite worked for me. Like a few other customizers here, I used a 10th anniversary McFarlane Toys SH figure for the wonderfully sculpted head, gauntlet/fists, should armor, and belt. For the body, I used a Wal-Mart exclusive Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, which met both my criteria as a base for Shadowhawk. The figure had to be in all black (no joint rub, I wanted the figure to be as poseable as possible), and the figure need to be muscular, but not really bulky, as SH is an agile-gymnast type. ![[Hollow Point] I'm a huge fan of G.I.Joe Kre-O, the figures and sets look great, but it isn't the first time Hasbro toyed with the idea of a Lego competitor. Years ago, there was "Built To Rule" a line where you built vehicles with interlocking bricks and piloted them with special GI Joe figures with pegs on the arms and legs that could connect with the blocks...yeah it wasn't that cool. However out of all that mess, one new character really caught my eye, and that was Hollow Point. Hollow point is the guy who tests all the new weapons systems and teaches the Joes how to use them. I was inspired by the Iron Man ending in the game "Marvel VS Capcom 3", in which he defeats Galactus, and essentially integrates his tech into his own. While I didn't care for what they showed of the design, I liked the idea. I decided I wasn't going to do a custom of that idea, but more of my own. For those who don't know, a few weeks back, TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman released some original concept sketches he drew some time in the 90's, for auction. These sketches were for a proposed fourth live-action TMNT film. The film was rumored to be darker, edgier and quite a departure from what we saw on screen up until that point. Unfortunately, (or fortunately for some TMNT purists) that movie never made it past concept/pre-production stages. Kirby (no doubt named after comics legend Jack Kirby) was one of the new characters to be introduced in the proposed film. Not much known about the character, but from the visuals, I KNEW I had to bring the guy to "life"!
The figures used in this piece combine a little old school and new. 2012 Raphael provides most of the body, while I used a vintage TMNT Slash for the shell, tail (in the concept art, Eastman has Kirby with spiky shell and with a tail) and chest.
