![[Blade Vampire Hunter] For your viewing pleasure (I hope) : BLADE!!
I've been wanting to do a Blade figure for awhile now, but didn't want to do any straight interpretation from comics, movies, or the anime, so I did a combination of all of them!
Recipe is as follows:
Head: DCUC Black Lightning
Upper torso: XMC Magneto
Arms & Coat: Marvel Legends Nick Fury
Lower Torso: ROML Drax
Upper Legs: Spider-Man 2 Doc Ock
Knees: ROML Ghost Rider
Lower Legs/Boots: ML Punisher
I used Tamiya clear red on BL's goggles, and also sculpted him a goatee. The tattoos on his head are hand painted as well. He comes with two big nasty katana, as well as the trademark Blade sword. I also gave him some throwing knives on his shoulder-strap, courtesy of Altair and a crossbow from, ironically enough, a Buffy figure. What respectable vampire slayer doesn't carry a crossbow?

After seeing the costume designs for Man of Steel coming up, I noticed that Zod's armor is very reminiscent of H.R. Giger's work. Of course, I immediately wanted to see how bad ass I could make a Brainiac in a similar style.
I had bought that Prometheus 2-pack a while back, wanting to use the tentacles for a future custom (keep yer eyes peeled kiddies!). This one ended up being a REAL Frankenstein mix of parts:
I used the Engineer body, and cut up the skirt from a Stargate figure. I also used the head from a Dc Direct JUSTICE Lex Luthor, and used round jewelry chain links to make the 'plugs' on Brainiac's head.
Backpack is made up of Spawn parts and DC Collectibles Mr. Freeze, and the posable 'utility arms' on his back came from a Matrix Sentinel. The bionic arm and boots came from a Neca Bionic Commando figure, while the claw and extendable tentacle came from a Spider-Man 2 Movie Doc Ock. Oh, and his right fore-arm & hand came from a Neca Bulletstorm figure. Ele](userimages/customs/49500/49323-1.jpg) Brainiac (Man of Steel Concept) |
![[Scorpion 'Ultra Bio Attack' Armor] Introducing Mac Gargan, the Scorpion!
It's another commission for the infamous "Giusti Collection"! Mr. Giusti wanted a big, tank-like Scorpion, but with a more organic than tech looking suit. While brainstorming, a thought occurred to me. Scorpions are arachnids, just like spiders. They BOTH have 8 legs, why not add some to Mr. Gargan here, as WELL as his tail? So I decided to add on some detachable 'Scorpion Legs' for some extra attack power.
We needed a big, hulking body as well, and the DC Superheroes Parasite figure fit the bill perfectly. I sculpted over the entire thing, added the required parts, and wrapped it up nice & tight in a paint job including 4 different shades of green, and two types of black paint.
Check out the formula/recipe below:
Head: Cast from Starwarsgeek, with sculpted mask
Body: DC Superheroes Parasite
Arms & Feet: SMC Mac Gargan Venom
Tail: Two Mac Gargan Venom tails cobbled together
Scorpion legs: LOTR Two Towers Shelob

I wanted to get away from the traditional 'Banshee' base for this character, and do something different. I purchased a translucent blue Tick figure, and thought it would be great for a Hydroman.
I had a 90's Spider-Man animated Series Hydroman figure laying around, so I included the arms from that, as well as the mace from a YJ Aqualad figure. A ML Hyperion head, w/repainted hair, a painted on shirt, lower leg of a ML Drax figure, some hot glue water features and boom! Hydroman!

![[The Vulture] Here's the Vulture! Another addition to the legendary Giusti collection of custom figures, this version of the Vulture was based on his classic look, as well as his look in the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions video game.
The customer and I decided we wanted the Vulture to look menacing, instead of an old man flying around in his PJ's. The Vulture never really has any weapons either, the 'pick Spidey up and drop him' method of attack was getting really old, so we decided some throwing knives and keeping the 'toe spikes' from the X-23 figure was in order.
The X-23 body was modified to look like a male body. The base was great because there was no real muscle tone, and would work without making Vulture look too bulky. I added the arms from a DCUC Deadman (mostly because liked the hands..), and wings from an XMC Bird of Prey Angel.
I also sculpted the chest area, the feathers around the shoulders, and the feathery 'mane' around Vulture's neck.
Lastly, I installed ball joints i](userimages/customs/48500/48221-1.jpg) The Vulture | ![[Scarecrow] "Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world."

Introducing the next in my 'line' of Batman Rogues' Gallery:
Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka: THE SCARECROW!!
I started this a few months back, as a result of a poll of what new non-commission figure I should make next on my FB page. In between a ton of commissions, I finally got it done, and here he is!
While I work on these Batman characters,I'm trying to take these well known villains and put my own special spin on them while keeping true to their basic traits. I really wanted a SCARY Scarecrow, that looked like an actual Scarecrow might. No fancy gas masks, no syringe fingers; just a beat up, nasty looking pile of thrift store clothing stitched together just the right way to scare the bejeezus out of anyone.
I also gave him a patched up top hat. I know, not the traditional pointy hat you usually see on him, but I gave him some straw and an autumn leaf sticking out](userimages/customs/47500/47386-1.jpg) Scarecrow |
![[Crossbones] This figure was a commission from someone who wanted a Crossbones with some 'realism'.
I decided early on that I wanted his "Skull" mask to be a separate piece from his usual 'stenciled head stocking' look. This could even be considered a 'movie version' I guess.
Recipe is as follows:
Head: Neca Perseus, sculpted over (mask sculpted so the eyes are visible..)
Base: I had a warpath who had an unfortunate lawnmower accident, so I sculpted the 'breastplate' over it and went to town.
Arms: Savage Dragon
This is also the first time I dyed a figure to avoid paint rub, and I know I'll do it again. I was scared to death of those SD fingers rubbing together, and the dye made that fear go bye bye.

Yet another entry for the infamous 'Giusti Collection' :)
This baby clocks in around 16-17" when fully extended, sports a completely 'from scratch' head sculpt, and fully sculpted body.
Recipe is as follows:
Base: Spawn Movie Malebolgia body
Head: Sculpt
Scales: Sculpt
Wings: Hasbro Annihilus BAF
Tail: Hasbro FFF BAF
Fins: Dc Direct JUSTICE Martian Manhunter clear variant cape
Purple Trunks: Sculpt
**EDIT** Also, the Neck is the piece I'm proudest of. NEck/shoulder joint, and joint at base of the ehad, provided by the Mattel Parallax BAF, and the middle part, sculpted from scratch. Has roughly 180 degrees of rotation on each joint, giving the neck a TON of articulation!
I started this thing back at the end of October, and have been whittling away at it piece by piece between other figures. Almost 4 months, 2.5 lbs of Apoxie sculpt, a whole lot of Citadel paint later, and the long haul is worth it!

![[Cthulhu] "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn"
"In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
H.P. Lovecraft, Call of Cthulhu, 1928
Cthulhu is a fictional god, said to 'slumber beneath the waves' in a mythical sunken city known as 'R'lyeh'. He first appeared in H.P. Lovecraft's 'Call of Cthulhu', written in 1928. Cthulhu was described as a huge, flabby creature. He looked to be part man, part dragon, with wings and a huge cephalopod head, not unlike a cuttlefish or octopus. I've been wanting to do a Cthulhu figure for quite some time, and was astonished that there wasn't already one here (other than the odd MLP or alien Cthulhu homage.)
This figure is a commission by a return customer, who's husband is a HUGE H.P. Lovecraft fan. This figure stands at twelve inches tall, and boasts a completely original head sculpt, as well as a completely sanded and re-sculpted body.

She's made from an ROML Hope, with a ML 2 Pack Sharon Carter head. I sculpted new hair, as well as the leaves in her hair, and all over her body. The leaves were sculpted individually, by hand...and it took QUITE a long time!
And as cool as Pam looks here, I needed to give the figure something to give it more 'oomph!' - So I sculpted a POSABLE base from Apoxie Sculpt, Twist ties & Hot Glue! I added a couple of 'Fly Trap' heads on there, so she could pose with her 'babies'!
Hope you guys like it, and I'm always down for the feedback!

![[Avengers Hulk "Hulkallo"] Another version of the same recipe:
Marvel Select Hulk figure, Gamma Strike Hulk head
I added hands from the Ultimate Marvel Select Grey Hulk so he could have one open hand, gave the pants some texture, and painted them purple with a dry brush coat of white to give it a 'faded jeans' look.

Arkillo Arms & Leg. Validus torso and hips. I popped on a Ultra Humanite head BACKWARDS for the peg hole, and sculpted everything else.
Clayface comes with two 'regular' arms, a hammer arm, and a bladed arm. He also has a GIGANTIC 12 inch 'stretch' arm made from Parallax BAF pieces, Hot Glue, and a PITT hand.
Thanks to Jin Saotome and MadTinker customs for some of the inspiration. I was working on this a bit ago, but had to put it on hold when I got my new job. Once I started working on it, I saw both Jin and MT had posted theirs. I wanted mine to retain a bit of the Batman TAS version, but still look like he could hold his own in the New 52 as well. I hope you guys like it. Poison Ivy's next!!

![[Skaar (V2, BAF)] Hey everyone! I started work on this one quite awhile ago, but other figures and life got in the way. I was never really satisfied with my first attempt at a Skaar figure (and it was really like, my third or fourth figure as well), so I NEEDED to do one that I thought really did the character justice. Lord knows the HML figure didn't...
I'm so glad I finally got to finish him, and I hope you are too!
Skaar here is made from the following:
Head: Solomon Grundy CnC, shaved down with sculpted hair
Torso & Hips/Crotch: Validus CnC
Shoulders: Arkillo Cnc
Arms: House of M Hulk
Legs: Arkillo
All the 'leather' bands are actually rubber bands which are stretched, glued in place and painted to give them texture. The metal/stone belt pieces are sculpted, and the 'rawhide' strips are actually thin rubber bands as well. Fur trim on the trunks and boots is all sculpt, and the wraps on the boots are more rubber bands with the same treatment.
Hair & Eyebrows are both sculpted too.](userimages/customs/40500/40422-1.jpg) Skaar (V2, BAF) | ![[Giant Man] Hey guys!
Just a quick re-paint of the MU Goliath for a friend of mine. He wanted this for his son, but they wanted more traditional Giant Man colors, complete with antennae.
I was originally going to use an old Sectaurs figure I had laying around for the antennae, but lost it! I then remembered that I had some wolverine claws in my fodder box! I cut off one claw, heated up what was left, bent it into the appropriate shape, and voila! Giant Man!
Looking forward to feedback, enjoy!!

![[Mr. Freeze] "This is how I will always remember you. Surrounded by winter. Forever young. Forever beautiful. Rest well my love. The monster who took you from me will soon learn that revenge is a dish best served cold."
This is a custom of Dr. Victor Fries, aka the notorious Mister Freeze!
I originally wanted to use this formula for the Winter contest, but didn't have the time. When the Vile Volitions contest came up, I was thankful for the second chance.
I've wanted to make a Mister Freeze ever since I saw the Naut Kei Loi GL CLassics figure on the shelves. I wanted to mix the smooth style of the DCUC buck with a gritty, almost steampunk look from some of the McFarlane figures I had laying around. I thought this clunky Freeze-pack and huge Freeze cannon would be a little closer to what a Mad Scientist on the run would make, with the limited resources he'd have at his disposal.
Helmet is removable, and Freeze cannon can clip onto the backpack for storage.
Here's the formula:

Been too long since I submitted my last custom, so here is my latest; Ghost Rider!! I feel there still hasn't been a decent GR figure made in this scale. For some reason, each GR figure out there is basically a skull, with some horrible orange fire stuck on top. I've always felt that a good Ghost Rider skull should look ENGULFED in flames, so I did the following:
Head: Kingdom Come Deadman skull, with sculpted Hot Glue flames
Body: Chest and hips are ML Shield Agent
Arms & Thighs: Spider-Man 2 Doc Ock
Shoulders: ML Longshot
Boots: Face Off Jigsaw
I first cracked the body open, and ground down the shoulder sockets to cut down on paint rub. I then cut the Prototype jacket just at the seam on the chest, and attached it to the torso. I sculpted the 'flap' on the front of the chest, an used the flat ends from some pins for the 'snaps' on the chest and collar.
I used my dremel to cut off the shield agent's neck, and then ho](userimages/customs/34000/33728-1.jpg) Ghost Rider |
![[Cable] Here's my take on Shinobitron's Bulletstorm Cable recipe, recently updated:
Body: Neca Bulletstorm Grayson Hunt
Head: XMC Magneto w/new paint job and scarring
Weapons: XMC Angel missile launcher (painted w/notches carved in), ML Bishop shotgun & holster, and Unreal Tournament figure guns
Arm: Apoxie sculpt & Citadel Mithril Silver
Arm guard: XMC Angel hip (?) guard
Seeing the brilliance of what Shin and LooseCollector produced using this recipe, I had to make one of my own. I decided I wanted to see how this formula would work with 'traditional' X-men Blue & Gold color scheme, and I thin I pulled it off.
I popped ol' Grayson's head off to use in a future Wolverine custom, and grabbed my X-men Classics Magneto head. I scarred up his eye, painted the general eye area with a tan, then dry-brushed skin tone over the entire face. I then painted his right eye with Tamiya Chrome.
I also painted his neck with Tamiya chrome, and used a fine tip paint marker to draw the 'cyberne](userimages/customs/32000/31817-1.jpg) Cable | ![[Swamp Thing] Coming to you from Hooligan Factory Customs, is the earth elemental: Swamp Thing!!
I saw the upcoming SDCC Swamp Thing figure, and although it looked fantastic, I didn't like the idea of the rubber 'skin' they added to it. Some of the pics showed the prototype already tearing, so I wanted to prove the figure could be done via more 'mundane' sculpting and painting methods.
I spent quite a few hours on this one. Deluxe Aggression Kane body, with an Alex Ross' Justice clear Martian Manhunter head. I swapped out the Kane arms for a set of CM punk arms, and took the bare feet of a UFC figure. I then covered the whole body in Aves Apoxie Sculpt. After poking about 900,000 holes in the 'skin', I also beefed up the shoulder areas, and the calf areas with Apoxie Sculpt, and set to work sculpting the 'vines' you can see crawling all over the body- as well as the 'tubers' growing on his back complete with stems and leaves!

A hammer falls on Yancy Street, and Benjamin Grimm- The Fantastic Four's Thing- picks it up, transforming into Angrir, the Breaker!
First, I applied a bright yellow wash over the entire figure. I then rubbed Fire orange, and Scarlet red into the cracks with my fingers (I like the low-tech approach.) This gave a nice fiery tone, to which I then applied a dry brush coat of Citadel Chaos Black, and then a wash of Tamiya Military Grey, being careful not to cover up the bright fiery colors.
While the figure dried, I sculpted the weird 'leech' thingies Angrir has covering his body, as well as started the armor. The leech creatures got a custom pinkish yuck color, and the armor pieces got a few layers of black, grey and then a dry-brush of mithril silver for a metallic 'cast](userimages/customs/30500/30157-1.jpg) Angrir the Breaker of Souls! ![[The Maestro] Here is my latest, and second ever, custom action figure. He was made from a Marvel select Hulk (A figure who's head sculpt I abhor with a passion). I popped the head off, covered it in Apoxie Sculpt and made a brand new head/face for him.
Tore off the tattered waist and leg pieces and sculpted the boots and belt/sash.
Multiple layers of 3 different Citadel greens, and Tamiya grey for the skin tone. Goblin green for the veins and bright highlights. White for beard and hair with grey dry brush.
I got some clearance bracelets and chain from a local jewelry store, which I used for the 'battle trophy' belt, and the mount for Wolverine's skeleton.
Wolvie's Skeleton is a mix of Blackest Night Dead Man and POTC figure parts, the Iron Man and Magneto helmets are scavenged from individual action figures of both. Cap shield is from MS Zombie Captain America.
