![[Samhain, Ghostbusters] Here's one I started a couple of months ago but put on hold when I started working on the car and firehouse. It's Samhain!
The recipe is simple, nothing special or new. I repainted that Harry Potter monster that everyone uses, but I added a high collar and sculpted around the neck region to blend it. The head is taken from that Samhain dolly that Mattel made, repainted and made to fit the body.
As for the paint scheme, I know he isn't purple. I always interpreted his cloak to be brown in the cartoon, and felt it looked purple due to lighting or animation effects. It eventually became purple, but I always preferred the brown.
With this one, I tried to give him a realistic look, as if he appeared in the films. The pumpkin was painted more realistically. The browns on the robe are intended to look like dead leaves, as if he were covered in dead organic material. I painted his hands and neck to appear to be made of twisting wood/root, which a pumpkin grows from.

I cut the top out and used model filler to smooth it over a square piece of vinyl, which took HOURS to get right. Days actually.
The gadgets on the roof were from various scrap and parts from an Ecto-1 model kit. I also smoothed over the doors and a few other things. The flashing lights are from some Gi Joe knockoff police rescue set. The whole toy is repainted and it took several revisions before I was happy with the results.
I intend for it to scale with my Mattel figures. So, here's the missing Justice League member. I doubt DC Collectibles has any plans to make him anytime soon. I know he got replaced by Cyborg as a founder, but he was still a past member according to Justice League #8.
Anyhow, he's mostly a basic custom with some twists thrown in. I started with a Brightest Day Martian Manhunter, but he had a big head and short legs. He didn't quite scale up next to the already released New 52 figures from DC Collectibles. I decided to shave off the sides of his pec muscles, so he doesn't look so blocky. I also extended his legs and completely shaved down his head and resculpted it. I swapped out parts here and there and did a lot of sculpting, such as on his forearms and the loincloth piece. I decided to give him creepy Martian hands(As seen in Stormwatch #12) to suggest his more frightening mysterious nature in the New 52.

It is just made from various scrap wood, canvas board, scrapbooking paper, and dollhouse miniatures, which were slightly modified and repainted.
The Wayne family portrait is from the Arkham game guide, modified to look more painted.
The bust of Thomas Wayne is made from various DCUC parts, like Superman and Question. The pedistal base is from a cake topper prop.
I installed a switchable LED outside the window for mood lighting purposes. I plan to update/modify it more later and hopefully update with some better pictures.

I still love my original, but I wanted to make one that better resembled Frank Quitely's depiction in Batman and Robin.
My original Pyg was a bit of an original take, mixing his original costume with a bit of Leatherface and making the mask more dramatic. I decided to deviate for the second one.
This one is closely based on Frank Quitely and Frazier Irving's depiction of the mask. It has a more smooth toy-like shape, with rounder eyes and less expression built in.
My second deviation for this one was to try to invoke the brighter colors used in his first appearance, so I went with a really strong pink, as well as blue and green tones on his outfit.
The apron and mask are fully sculpted, as well as the folds on his sleeves and gloves.

![[Dr. Hurt (2) Batman RIP] Hurt is my favorite Batman villain of the last decade! He's pure evil, with a dose of overzealous stupidity. You love to see him lose.
In my first attempt at a Dr. Hurt, I used Frazier Irving's art as a source. He had a more strained face and white eyes. His cape was also relaxed and generic.
For this one, I went toward the Cameron Stewart/Tony Daniel version, with some Chris Burnham influence on the head shape.
I wanted the cape to look more animated than my last one, so I took a Black Lanterrn cape and sharpened the fingers into points to mimic the bat-cape he wore. The hand shape to the cape could also be symbolic of "the Black Glove".
The body is mostly a straight repaint of that Heroes toy based on Malcolm McDowell(perfect). I did sculpt a new shirt underneath the jacket, which is his 50's style button-over doctor shirt with the flat colar.
The head has to be a new record. I had to make this new Joker. In the story, the Joker went missing for a year after another villain sliced his face off. He returned to claim his skin and has been wearing it as a mask, along with a "Joe's Garage" jumpsuit he apparently stole.
The recipe is a killing Joke Joker upper half, with legs from DCUC Question.

![[The Question Vic Sage] I'll admit, this custom is kinda stupid. Pointless, at least.
I wanted a Question to go with my DC Direct figures. I don't really collect Mattel, and their figure looked gangly and out of place next to my Batman figures, so I wanted to fix that.
The base figure is actally NOT a Mattel Question. It is some guy in a suit from the tv show 'Alias'. I bought him at a second-hand toy store, so I'm not exactly sure who he is. The head is from Mezco's "The Spirit", from the Frank Miller movie.
I did take the large coat and hands from Mattel's Question, and I cut everything up to go together, resculpted, and repainted it. The magnifying glass is from a Stargate figure.
I based his color scheme on the "52" maxi-series, where he died.

For this custom, I decided to take the comic design and push it to an extreme like the other game models. The chest has a spray-painted 'bleeding' bat logo, etc. Most of the parts are pretty basic fodder...

I really wanted an Oracle. Problem is, DC Direct's costs a ton and isn't that nice of a figure. It is more of a 'girl in wheelchair' toy, rather a reflection of the teched-out hacker girl that Oracle is/was. I wanted something more dramatic.
I started with a Professor X Wheelchair. Problem is, it looks like a toilet with wheels. I chopped and cut and broke the wheelchair down, then reassembled it like a more traditional wheelchair. The small wheels are now up front, etc. I used cut up gift cards to create new panels and parts on the chair, like the monitors, laptop, feet rests, lower base, seats, etc. It's a true Frankenstein's creation and took way more time to make than the figure herself.
The figure is mostly a Buffy Faith figure. Problem is, that figure is gangly and the articulation ruins it. I used the arms from an older Faith figure. The small arms are plastic scrap, and the various wires are from a Spawn Cy-Gor toy.
The huge bat signal is just a display stand, painted with acrylics to create a glowing effect.

At first, I just settled for repainting it. Problem is, it just doesn't look like Heath Ledger. I decided to take the head off that Avatar army guy and re-sculpted it. I practically re-sculpted everything but the ears on that thing. I tried to match several source pics, as well as some of the Hot Toys Joker details. I may end up adding some volume to the hair, but this is how it looks for now.
I spent careful detail on the cuts around the mouth. They aren't simple razor lines in the film. The right side features a thin accurate cut that arcs into a candy-cane shaped smile. The left side is more traumatic with deep swollen stab spots, which results in more of a big lump of scar tissue. This is mostly due to the fact that the prosthetic seemed to bulge when Ledger frowned, so I tried to capture that look. The similarities between movie Hawkeye's costume and New 52 Green Arrow's are apparent, so I pushed the custom toward being a personal concept/modification of the New 52 Green Arrow design. The hoods are from Smallville Impulse. I also cut the sunglasses off movie Hawkeye and trimmed them into goggles and glued them onto the Ronin head. The belt and leg pack are from Young Justice Sportsmaster. I painted the leg pack piece to look like a tablet or a "qPad" in a holster.
