Very easy custom here, carefully turned the masked and maskless "running changes" into a single figure version closer to the tri-claw Daken (Dokken?!) that appeared in the comics. ![[Super Adaptoid] Here is my take on the Super Adaptoid, as rendered in the epic giant-size fashion of Stevid and others. An android created by AIM and originally powered by a shard from the Cosmic Cube, the adaptoid is devoid of emotions, expressions, or even a FACE. This monstrosity once impersonated Captain America while infiltrating the Avengers. He fought the Mimic to a standstill in which a feedback loop rendered both temporarily powerless. My rendition recounts the time the android spent in the Negative Zone. This has always been one of my favorite villains.
Simple recipe, I took a Marvel Legends Icons Silver Surfer and sculpted tons of details with Apoxie Sculpt and then added a few extra parts. All peg holes have been sculpted over and extra bulk sculpted into the musculature. Anyhow, this is a very simple repaint of the "gold" variant Hasbro ML Spiral using all Citadel and DecoArt blends. The stories that began a few years later marked the beginning of the end of that era. The eventual battle between the X-Men and hybrid Master Mold/Nimrod in issues #246-7 particularly struck a nerve with me as one of my favorite X-Men, Rogue, was sucked through the Siege Perilous portal along with the robot monstrosity--ironically as Nimrod was instigating Master Mold to destroy itself. All of this culminated in the Reavers' crucifixion of Wolverine on an X and "killing" of nearly all the X-Men through the portal, with a new breed of unlikely heroes such as Jubilee taking up the torch and most of the original members re-emerging as we know them today. The early waves had some with excellent accessories along with great sculpting and paint detail (like the wave 2 Green Goblin). The wave 6 Sunfire figure has a decent paint job and sculpt in my opinion, but his "fire" effect fails. I made him a heckuva lot more fiery with some super hot glue flame effects! I dry-brush blended the body flames to the figure's various parts, made an atomic fireball worthy of a nuclear-powered mutant, and added a fully poseable flaming flight trail stand to finish the job. The flames are all painted with washed out DecoArt Canyon Orange and Primary Yellow, with another thinned dry-brush of primary yellow, and finally sealed with Mod Podge.
