![[Stove Polish] An anthropomorphic stove character that appeared briefly (just a single panel), in the story "The Fashionable Fireman and The Soft-Boiled Collar-Button" that ran in October 1943's Jingle Jangle Comics #5. Said series was published by Eastern Color (under the Famous Funnies, Incorporated imprint) and lasted for 42 issues (February 1942 to December 1949.) Jingle Jangle Comics was released on a bi-monthly basis, individual issues cost ten cents, and the books were sixty-eight pages in length. The stories were intended for children and consisted of humorous, nonsensical fare. George L. Carlson was the primary artist and Stephen Douglas the editor.
While this particular character wasn't actually given a name in the story, it is directly referred to with a text box stating that "The Wooden Allegro decided to let his stove polish whenever it wanted to . . ." They all mentioned "THE PHANTOM"..So I guess he is one of the Golden age favorite comic character if not,hes most remarkable golden years comic icon..
About the Figure:
Lots of Sanding Done on the head and sanded down the face to narrow down his lower cheeks and jaws since The Phantom's face seems to have a more pronounced cheek bones.. His horse borrowed from ARWEN-LOTR..and his dog..O well.. From my nephews toy box!
After the sanding Process i painted him with 3 tones of Violet and the eye mask where drawn using permanent marker..What I liked about the base figure is it is full of articulation just right for the Phantom's character since he moves a lot in the most of his comic stories.
Hope you liked him...](userimages/customs/33500/33034-1.jpg) The Phantom Phantomby cuztomizaI asked 3 senior Citizens of about 60 years old and above on who is their favorite comic character of all times. They all mentioned "THE PHANTOM&...26 comments Rated 4.15 stars ( 118 votes) |

I LOVE the old Fleischer Studios cartoons. They truly rivaled Disney in their time and were some MAJOR pioneers of 2D animation. If you ever run into these on DVD PICK IT UP!!! Anyway this is a figure I've taken a crack at a couple times but never really dug my results. This one definitely makes me happy. I saw this interesting action figure and transformed her into a the Gold Age character.. Her looks almost matched the looks of the 1950's generation. The repaint did alot of the transformation...
Added skirt, borrowed Scarlet witch's cape and supermans flag and pardon me for i did some twist on her costume. i opened her blouse on her chest a bit so as to spice up her looks since the original costume looked so lame but nevertheless almost 80-90% is still her original costume...](userimages/customs/33000/32671-1.jpg) Ms. America Marvel Legendsby cuztomizaI guess when we talk about GOLDEN AGE character, we cannot disregard the fact that MS. So I had to rectify this. I started with a WW base and remodeled away the WW bra and then made the correct size breasts not trying to overdevelop themas I want her to be accurate to the references I used. then I removed the collar from and head from my DCDirect SS. and popped the head on my WW fig and glued down and puttied the collar in place then popped the DCDirect SS head on. Then a light sanding and a paint job later there you have a Golden age Star Sapphire, or was she silver age I can't remember if green lanterns started in the golden or silver age hmmm close enough they time traveled enough in Silver age for it not to matter. ![[Golden Age Joker] "A man smiles a smile without mirth - rather a smile of death, the awesome ghastly grin of - THE JOKER!"
This is my interpretation of a golden age Joker based on Conrad Veidt's appearance in the 1928 silent film "The Man Who Laughs" It has been reported that Gwynplaine's appearance was one of the inspirations for the look of the character in the comics. I can certainly see why and was always curious to see what that would look like. I was also inspired by the bust created by Peter Murphy. Its an awesome, scary piece for sure. This is by far one of my favorites and scariest pieces.
It started as a Heath Ledger Joker mod. I wanted to give him a smile. But as I started working on him I got bored and decided to do something fresh. Then I noticed that Heath had some of the same facial features as Conrad Veidt (namely the hook nose and forehead) so I went with it. Several days of sculpting and a paint job later and this guy is ready to put a grim smile on anyone's face.](userimages/customs/32500/32384-1.jpg) Golden Age Joker Batmanby eldraxo"A man smiles a smile without mirth - rather a smile of death, the awesome ghastly grin of - THE JOKER!"

Major Liberty started as a DC Classic Universe Gentleman Ghost figure. I removed the cape and trimed up the coat tails. From there I added a Clint Barton Head. The gloved hands come from a Hasbro Marvel Legends Banshee. The tops of the boots are sculpted as is the hat. For the stars, I added confetti stars and then painted them white. ![[Mighty Boy I] Okay, here goes. From Superboy Vol. I #1 (March/April 1949) we have Mighty Boy I, a youth named Reuben who is tricked by an unscrupulous carnival showman to appear as the world's strongest boy. All of Mighty Boy's feats are actually the result of circus trickery. When criminals kidnap Mighty Boy in order to further their villainous plans, Superboy steps in to end the fictitious career of the young man and apprehend all who sought to exploit him.
Again, this was a pretty simple custom to put together. I took the Crisis Series 3 Earth-Prime Superboy, removed his head, arms, hands, and legs, and used Tamiya Putty White to fill in the grooves of his chest and cape symbols, thus making his chest and cape smooth. Next, I gave the figure a full body repaint. Once all paint had dried on the body, I reattached all body parts except for the head. Next, I sanded the neck ball on the Superboy figure into a post and then used more Milliput to build up the neck to accommodate the new head (t](userimages/customs/32500/32099-1.jpg) Mighty Boy I Superboy Classicsby manomight1974Okay, here goes.
