![[Michelangelo] Next up for the Turtles, Michelangelo, probably my 2nd favorite now (though that shifts a lot) and ULTIMATE favorite when I was a kid. I both like, and don't like how Mike came out. The main thing is that I used gloss paints as part of the mix for his skin tone so he has a marginally different texture than the other Turtles. It's hard to tell since I sprayed all of them with a clear gloss coat of finisher, but you can *kind of* tell something is different.
We'll use Mike's entry to explain something very frustrating I ran into doing these and hope to fix in the next iteration. I painted up the weapons nicely, but the turtles grip them so tight that every time I tried to change them out it would destroy the paint job. I tried various mixes of paint, sealant, ect and nothing could get past that friction of initially trying to stick the weapon in his hand, so unfortunately all these guys are 'stuck' holding their secondary weapons which to me is cool and isn't at the same time. ![[Michelangelo; the Ninja Turtle] Hey everyone! Today I've got a original creation of mine. (the concept I mean) It's my Ninja Turtle based off Micheal Bays upcoming film well of course titled: Ninja Turtles! Predperation:This started out as a GOW 2 Skorg, removed all the paint, removed the Skorg head, and sanded down what needed to be sanded.
Sculpt: I only had to sculpt the head for him (which I thought turned out ok) which the head is a Halo: Reach Elite
Paint: Had to do lairs, and mixing on this guy! For the Green I did 2 lairs of dark Green. and 2 lairs of light, and 1 lair of mixed. For the orange, I just mixed it with some white and made it lighter. Then I did the shell, which is just lairing (I thought the shell came out ok)
Accesories: Custom NunChucks, and Lots of predator fodder!
So thats all! I hope to do the rest of the gang!
P.S If anyone is wondering why Mikey looks as shown, its because 1. Sculpey for the helmet and forearms, using a small flat head screwdriver for details. I carved and added some wiring to the forearms to make him more "robotic" looking.
Who doesn't fear red illuminating eyes!? I wanted to make them light up, but everything I found on the topic was with larger figures (more work space in the body cavity) :-P
So what I ended up doing was drilling out the back of the head and used a smaller drill bit to make the eyes holes.
Then I cut clear plastic from an empty hair gel bottle and placed the pieces in front (visor), on the top, and back of the head. Coloring the top and back "windows" with a red dry board marker. Happy with results, I'll save using LEDs for a future project. ;-) (Thanks Jason for the idea!)

It was a Christmas story focusing on Michaelangelo. (!spoiler of the story until next paragraph!) The story goes like this; Mikey is on a stroll to get some fresh air and to take up some sights in a snowy Christmas-y NYC evening. As Mikey is walking around he notices a lost little kitty cat in the middle of a snowy park. Mikey instantly adopts the lil guy and names him Klunk. With his new friend Klunk, Mikey continues his journey and comes across a nifty toy store. Mikey being the awesome guy that he is has to check out the toys. While in the empty store Mikey goes around back and stumbles on to some crooks robbing the stores shipment of that years hot holiday toy, The "Lil Orphan Aliens". ![[Michelangelo!!] Here's the coolest of the gang, Michelangelo takes the life as a funny serious thing, immature some may say :D but I love this guy.
About the custom:
- The head was fully sculpted from scratch same as hands and feet, I think they look very well, chest and shell were sculpted too, all made with epoxic clay.
- A mixture of wwe action figures were used as base body and shaped in a semi-static posture, in fact this Mike is a semi-statue and since this figure will be displayed over a shelf then it's ok, thats why I shaped him on an action posture which looks great if he holds his nunchakus or if he rides his skate board.
- Belts and nunchakus holsters were made with fake leather straps.
About the accesories:
- The nunchakus were made using som plastic stick and a real chain.
- The Pizza box is totally handmade using cardboard and handpainted too.
- The Pizza was made using epoxic clay and handpainted too.
- The Skateboard is from the dollar store :)

![[Michelangelo] Saw these at the Target I work at when they first came out and thought they needed a repaint. I wanted them to take on a more "earthy" feel rather than the typical cartoon and comic look. Testors Model Master and Citadel paints were used in the process. I used a few solid coats followed by dry-brushing and washes. After completing the repaints I decided to take on the Turtle Van or "Shellraiser" and perform a custom paint job on that too. I drilled and filled the headlights and afterburners with working LEDs, along with green Ground FX for totally tubular driving. ![[Michelangelo] Michelangelo has always been my favorite turtle in all the TMNT incarnations. I just have never brought myself to do a figure because I didn't want a figure of my favorite turtle that I couldn't be completely proud of. So I finally settled in to complete my first Michelangelo, and yes I love how it came out.
While his appearance may seem bit different than one would think, this is actually based off an episode of the 200x TMNT cartoon series. The episode was entitled "Same As It Never Was," and frankly it probably had one of the largest death counts in any Saturday morning-esque cartoon. If you've never seen the series, you owe it to yourself to find this episode and watch it.
Also because I like to give backstories for customs I make, we're pretending that this is one of many Turtle-verses. ![[Michelangelo (NECA)] So heres a project I've wanted to do for a long time but the cost of the base figures was too prohibitive in my mind to do them. Thankfully, a guy who found me and asked to do them, so I'm finally getting my chance. For the basis of them, the dude sent me pictures of fwooshes own Speedlee's turtle customs as a reference. He wanted them to be in the 2000s style, which was right up my alley anyways.
First up is Mike (he's my least favorite turtle, so I figured I'd just get him out of the way). He provided the figures, but unfortunately, he had previously tried to paint the bandannas in their respective colors with enamel paints. On the rubbery plastic of the bandannas, its never fully dried in most places, and in others it was extremely tacky. So I set about stripping that, and then gave them full repaints. Mikes black lining isn't showing up well in the pics, on top of him looking quite a few shades of green darker than he actually is, but I think he still looks good. Of course, I could still probably find time to post the older customs I already have finished, but that means I'd have to take pictures of them. I can't stress this enough: I really HATE photography.
