I was looking at pictures of the balrog last weekend, and decided I needed to change mine to look more movie accurate so here he is. I started by just painting the entire figure black "including the wings" then I added the tail which is from another hades figure then I attached his fire mane which is many different pieces from marvel and star wars characters I then did a 4 HOUR paint job on the face, because of a cat that kept trying to ruin my custom then I made his sword made from a knife and then added a lot of fire pieces to. I then painted his body by first giving him a wash and then another time consuming paintjob, the whip took a long time as well. Thanks for looking and I appreciate all comments!](userimages/customs/29000/28625-1.jpg) Balrog V2 | ![[Balrog] Hi! this is a custom I did before Christmas, but I never got around to listing him. He took a long time to do, I started him the day before thanksgiving, but anyway I sculpted the head and sword and then did a time consuming paintjob. The wings are from hades. I made him a bendable whip too but I forgot to take a pic. They usually have powers relating to darkness and fire, but there are rumors of balrogs controlling other elemental forces.
There is a heated debate amongst nerds, I mean, amongst devoted Lord of the Rings fans, over wether balrogs have wings or not. In the LOTR novels, the wizard Gandalf fought on a crumbling bridge with a fire balrog. The book-text referred to the balrog:
"His enemy halted again, facing him, and the shadow about it reached out like two vast wings."
"Like two vast wings" is obviously a simile, but then the text continues:
"...suddenly it drew itself up to a great height, and its wings were spread from wall to wall..."
If you read this, then you can take it literally that the balrog has actual, physical wings. Who cares right? Well, if balrogs have wings, then that means they may be able to fly, and](userimages/customs/1500/1078-1.jpg) Draconic Balrog Fantasyby Dr NightmareLoosely translated, the name "Balrog" means "demon of might", in other words, a demon that is really frikkin' strong.
