Tomb Raider - Cradle of Life (SOTA)
I have to preface this review by saying how much I regret ripping the head off this figure and ruining it for a custom that never panned out. It is a really nice figure, and depicts Lara as she appears in the Cradle of Life movie, wearing a jacket with the image of a tiger on the back that she picked up in Hong Kong. Lara also comes with bare arms that you can switch out to replicate her unjacketed look.
This figure is almost just as good as the other Lara in this line, the one in the silver wetsuit. Like that figure, Lara is highly articulated, featuring double-jointed elbows and knees among other POAs. The face is a good likeness of Angelina Jolie, apart from looking slightly bored and, like the wetsuit figure, having too high of a forehead and a receeded hairline. There is a slight lean to her torso though, so she can't really stand straight.
The sculpting is very good, there's a lot of very nice fabric texture in the sleeved arms and pants, and the paint is also great, the tiger picture on the back looks great and the pants are drybrushed and it brings out the detail. Lara's bare arms don't look as nice because the joints kind of break it up. Also, Lara's shirt underneath the jacket did have short sleeves in the movie, she never had bare arms. And once again, the arms are too long. Both types of arms are also wont to fall out because they are meant to be removeable. But at least she came with the option to switch arms.
Besides the spare arms, Lara comes with her signature pistols which look fantastic unlike many six-inch scale pistols that come with such figures. However, it would have been nice to see a few other weapons or accessories, just as the wetsuit figure came with a knife, two different dart guns and an artifact.
On the whole though, it's a pretty nice "default" Lara, and she does spend more time in this look than in the wetsuit anyway.
