Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) Review

Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
DC Universe Classics (Mattel) - Wave 3
One of the greatest of Earth's hero's and champion of the Silver Age, Hal Jordan has finally got a DC Classics toy treatment. Found him at a Target in Texas and snatched him right up, being the only one left on the pegs.

Hal has the standard DC Superheroes/DCU Classics male body with a brand new head sculpt. The body appears to be molded out of green plastic with black paint. The hands are made of white plastic with the forearms painted white on black plastic. The boots are painted green and the feat are made of emerald plastic.

The ring his amazingly well done. Instead of just a lump of plastic on his fist, it is carefully sculpted to look like the ring from the comics which just blew me away. I'm giving props to Mattel for that one!

The paint on the body is rather smooth, though, there are some bleeds, but you couldn't tell if you weren't looking for them in the first place. This will vary from toy to...well, you probably know what I'm going to say, right?

The hair is glossy brown with black highlights. This makes it look like it was touched up with wood stain, making it rather silly in appearance.

Hal has twenty-one points of articulation like the previous toys in the line. The head is a ball joint and the shoulders are swivel hinges, the biceps are swivels, the elbows and knees are both hinges, the wrists, waist, and thighs are swivels, the ankles, abdomen are hinged joints and the hips are the basic DC Superhero/DCU Classics swivel hinges.

The ab joint on mine is rather loos and his left hip is rather gummy when moved. The worst flaw is his right thigh. While the upper part is fine, the lower half is actually too small and lacks definition compared to the other leg. This is hopefully just and issue of Quality Control.

The accessory for Hal is of course his Power Battery. It's shaped like it is in the comics and painted a metallic lime green and can be held in his left hand and with some work, have the ring pointed in front of it like he's recharging it which is pretty cool.

Over all, Green Lantern gets three and a half stars out of five.
