So I am thankful that Kenner gave us so many figures from the animated series. But they've always seemed to come up short & not really exactly like their cartoon counterparts. But I am grateful that many of them gave me a good base to start fixing their errors. I've been doing this for a long time. And did many of these figures before. But looking at my display, I decided many of my older customs were still not perfect to the cartoon. So I started revisiting many of the older figures & fixing them further.
I make a lot of animated customs. Some of the most obscure characters that might only be in one or two episodes. And I get why Kenner didn't make a lot of those characters as figures. But I really can't grasp why they never made H.A.R.D.A.C. I mean they always wanted to have multiple Batman figures in every series. And what would be cooler than a robot Batman? They already had the body molded. They abused that mold with all the stupid, different color Batman's. All they had to do was mold a new head. So that was how I approached the H.A.R.D.A.C. custom the first time. I just got a combat belt Batman, popped out the head, cut it in half, & sculpted the robot half face.It was a lazy custom. But after seeing the DC Collectibles version that came out, I decided that my custom wasn't good enough. In the episode H.A.R.D.A.C. got all battle damaged. And the DC Collectible version had that. So I started out with one of the random color Kenner Batman figures. I used to use Combat Belt Batman because that figure is the correct color, but that figure has gotten pricey to buy. So I took maroon Batman & hollowed out the chest & stomach so I could add the wires & robot parts. I was never exactly happy with my old head because it didn't look enough like the cartoon. So I decided to use a different head. Also why not make the full robot head & make the head swappable. So pretty much that is how thos figure cane about, the it was painted.
The pics are of the old & new design. W.I.P. pics of the new figure. And the completed new version. I'm pretty happy with this figure now & think he is definitely show accurate.
