PROFILE: Picard, Jean-Luc, a witness to the impending death of Ambassador Sarek, mind-melded with the dying Vulcan dignitary in order to fulfill his dying wish. Rumors were abound that Sarek's estranged son, Ambassador Spock, had defected to Romulus. Picard, along with Data, disguised himself as a Romulan in order to fall behind Romulan lines, locate Spock, and deliver Sarek's deathbed message of reconciliation to his son. While on Romulus, Picard and Data were seized and held captive by Romulans, led by Pardek, who appeared sympathetic to Spock. The hostages were delivered to Spock, who was secretly negotiating a re-unification of the Romulan Empire with their Vulcan forefathers. Picard mind-melded with Spock to deliver his father's message.
