Sanding Apoxie Sculpt

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hello! I’m new to the community and also new to workin with apoxie! My question is what grit should I be using to sand my apoxie? My apoxie is blue and with the sandpaper I’m using (220,80,120) it’s smoothes it but it leaves the sign of scratches and leaves it an off color. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I sand with 400 to remove material semi-quickly, then wetsand with 800 I think to smooth it out a little. Paint usually hides any scratches.

(I don't have a formula, this is just what works for me)

Finest grit sandpaper I've used is 220, but then I don't normally do a lot of apoxie work. I have noticed some small scratch marks left when I have sculpted pieces, but, usually, after a few coats of paint they aren't THAT noticeable imo, unless you're looking VERY closely. I decided to look up sandpaper grit on Google and this is probably what you're looking for...

"For heavy sanding and stripping, you need coarse sandpaper measuring 40- to 60-grit; for smoothing surfaces and removing small imperfections, choose 80- to 120-grit sandpaper. For finishing surfaces smoothly, use a super fine sandpaper with 360- to 600-grit."
