My first custom figure

Posted in Identify Help

I can remember my first custom figure well. It was on that fateful day when my friend Jake brought back the X-Men figures he had borrowed from me. Taking me into my room so my mom wouldn't hear my yelling he showed me my Mr. Sinister figure whos foot had been chewed off by his dog Wolfie. Well, not quite knowing what I was doing at the time I decided to salvage this figure by turning it into...something.

Getting my dad's hacksaw from the garage (yes, I'm sorry to say that was my first choice of tool) I proceeded to slowly hack off the lower part of his stump to straighten it out. Once that was FINALLY done, I wised up and just used a gardening spruce to clip off the other foot. I then yanked off parts from a busted up enemy cannon fodder Exo-Frame (from the series Exo-Squad) and attached them to different parts of his body with a hot glue gun ( again, I had no clue what I was doing). Feeling that he needed 'more' I yanked off his arms and hot glued the EXO arms to him, effectively killing any articulation at the shoulder. The hot glue looked wonky so I painted it lime green, giving him these weird day-glow splotches wherever his bionic components were attached. A little more crappy pain application and he was ready to be strung up with clear thread to hang from my bedroom ceiling.

I guess that was the best any kid in the 5th grade with no prior experience could do, but at least it was a start...

With the Bane I'm working on right now, I'm using Plumber's Putty rather than Apoxy Sculpt. Couldn't find any sculpt, so I had to work with what I got. The curing takes longer, but once it solidifies it's hard as metal.

a true hero!

I like to use anything I can find, instead of buying.

I was making one guy and needed a neck so I took bits of paper towel, balled it up, and super glued it into a little cylinder. then painted it the skin color and it was a neck! lol
