Need Help with Soft Plastic!!!

Posted in Custom Workstation

Does anyone have any advice on painting soft plastic such as coats and capes for Marvel Legends figures? Every time I paint one it comes out very sticky, and really is a pain to display cause it sticks to everything!!! If you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks!

if you're not doing it already you need to wash the entire figure in warm soapy water to make sure all the mold release and other chemicals from the manufacturing process are gone.

Soft rubber capes are hard to paint - use acrylic paints and do several light coats of paint - make sure you thin your paint properly with a drop of distilled water.

Most definitely make sure you're using Acrylic paint! Enamel will not dry.

You can try rubbing some Acetone (Nail polish Remover) on it, let it dry then paint. make sure you wash with warm soap and water before. Remember to use Acrylic only NOT Enamel. Hope it helps.
