Q: Best head for an Obama Custom figure?

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hey everyone,

As a favor to a friend, I'm creating an Obama 6" scale action figure.

Any suggestions on what character & what figure I should use?

From what I've seen, John Stewart (Green Lantern) is the best candidate for this job - but I haven't a clue what version.

Also! Anyone know what figures have a 6" scale 'Pointing finger' gesture and another with a 'thumbs up' hand?

Thanks in advance,
-Blayne

Maybe if I was trying to make Obama's evil, alternate universe twin, "Adolf Von Obama". :P

I found a basket ball players head (who also comes with a pointing finger-hand!) @ ToysRus today, so I'll try sculpting over that. It had the right ears, eyes and hair.

I'd actually considered doing one myself as part of the whole Action League thing. From my research, you could use the Playskool "African American Doctor" figure. I have the "white" version next to me as I'm typing, and it looks to be about 6-7 inches in height. There's one up on Ebay right now, look up "Playskool Doctor" and scroll down a bit. Sand off the molded-on stethoscope, paint the jacket and pants black, the shirt white, and the tie blue, and you've got Obama. Or get the "white" version and paint the hair white and the tie red for McCain. And I'm pretty sure there's a "Mom" figure out there that can pass for Hillary. That's what I like about these things - the possibilities are endless.

...Ooh, and before you do the Obama one, if possible, make a mold of the head and ship me a casting. (I kinda need "The Chief's" head from the "AA Doctor," and they're kinda hard to find. )

For the pointing finger, try some Street Fighter or Tomb Raider figures (like the kind designed to hold a pistol, then you just stretch the finger to point straightly).

And really, to make the thumbs-up, just get a "normal" hand, make some cuts in certain places to move the fingers around, then sculpt a little to fill the gaps.
