Games Workshop purity seal, satin varnish

Posted in Custom Workstation

Has anyone ever used this?, I recently bought a can and am a bit afraid to use it on my customs in case it adds shine to them, so if anyone has used it please let me know if they had good or bad results from it, cheers

I've never used Citadel's Satin varnish, but I have used the Vallejo brand.
It looked good when it went on (and simulated a soft cotton in both feel and light-reflection), but really picked up smudges/dust after a week or so in the open.

I've used Citadel matte finish 'purity seal' in a can (aerasol) before, and it worked well. However, be careful using a spray can on anything that has soft plastic (capes, accessories, hair, etc.). If it's not hard plastic, it can react badly to the spray-medium and become really sticky / never dry.

The only solution to that would be to use a brush on varnish on the sticky areas a few times. I just skip the spray on sealant now and use the brush on varnish types.

Cheers,
