hello everyone...

Posted in Custom Workstation

hello everybody I'm new to the board and new to customizing as well after seeing some of the kick @## customs off of this site and others I just had to step into this world. but I have a question well two actually for some of you where could I find a good head sculpting guide and is the ML scale a good scale still to use? I'm trying to do up a black queen selene figure from marvel comics but I really dis-like the white queen's face from the hasbro line but her body is great for the project.

I'd sand it with a dremmel mate, cheaper than using up your precious aves but a little more labourious.

Thank You Guys for the welcome and the pointers!

yeah I'll have to look into the comic figure data base. I'm thinking that maybe psylocke's head might be perfect but I think emma's head is quite smaller though.

but I did do up some marvel universe type custom heads but the scale bothers me just a tad. not sure why but there is just something about it that seems off in my opinion. but that's cool with that small doll head swap though it defiantly opens up a new door of female faces!

now another question for you guys as well would putting aves sculpt over raised detail be better or would sanding the raised detail work better? again thank you guys in advanced.

Welcome to the Realm!
If you haven't checked them out, they are a help for starter problems and questions(except for sculpting heads).

Wellcome to the realm!

I don't think there's any guide about face sculping in this site, there's a guide in face painting, but I don't think painting can save that Emma Frost figure, everyone hates that face.

I really sugest you swap the head with one that doesn't look so bad, comicfigs.net got a decent database of ML figures, you may find one head you like, then check the trades for that head, or try buying the figure.

there's been some talking that they may end ML scale and start using Marvel Universe scale, I hope it doesn't happen, but if it does happen I don't think it will happen anytime soon, so for now stick with ML scale, that's what most people are doing.

An idea I'm actually trying in a custom is using a little Bratz doll head, they are sorta cheap, my wife collects dolls, and she had some little Bratz that she gave me, cause she just wanted their clothes for her collection dolls, so that's how I tryed it out, and the proportions looks funny, the head isn't that big that will look bad when side to side with regular figures.

Hope to see your Black Queen soon.
