does kerosene remove chrome from figures

Posted in Custom Workstation

Hi, just wondering,

I used to paint stuff a lot and use kerosene (maybe spelled wrong) to remove paint. I have just started up again with making stuff and I have an acion figure that has some paint and some chrome, and was wondering if I soak it in a bowl of kerosene lamp oil, will that remove everything?

if you want to remove paint from plastic use Acetone or Goofe off, but spot test both of these can have bad reactions with cretin mix's of plastics. a small spot tests are the best way to go.

ehhhhhhhh I guess it only works on enamel paints and spray paints that I used to use on plastic car/airplane models. I soaked my action figure parts in a bowl of kerosene for a few hours and neither the chrome OR the original paint OR the black mystery paint that I put on it a few years ago came off. So I guess I will just have to sand it, or sculpt over the paint/chrome.
