DCSH/DCUC mixed Superman custom

Posted in Custom Workstation

I'm thinking about working on a custom Superman figure using parts from both the DC Superheroes line and DC Universe Classics line. With the DCUC version of Superman I feel like they've improved on some things and gone backwards in other areas.

The red paint on DCUC Superman is WAY better than DCSH Superman, the cape is shorter and includes the yellow S shield on the back, and of course the DCUC legs are a huge improvement over the DCSH line. However, I find the chest sculpt on DCSH Superman so much better than DCUC Supes and not only that, the bigger S shield on his chest is a hundred times better. I also do prefer the face on DCSH Supes compared to DCUC although it's not bad either.

Basically what I want to do is take everything from the waist up except the cape on DCSH Superman and put the DCUC Superman legs into the waist joint and attach the DCUC cape to the DCSH body as well. Has anyone ever tried this before?

I've been staring at my DCSH Superman on my shelf lately and the legs are just really starting to bother me. The way his legs are forced to be so spread apart makes him appear to be shorter than both Batman and Wonder Woman (who I have Superman in between of) and I want to correct this. Also the reds will look so much better with the DCUC parts although I would probably have to do a bit of painting to match the red on the chest with the rest of the figure. Anyone have any tips or ideas for this custom?

I think making the hole bigger is the best option, it's much easier than making the peg smaller. As for how, I agree a drill might work but there's all kinds of room for disaster there IMO. A rotary tool would be much easier or maybe you could just but some bits and try to fit them in your drill?. You could also use sandpaper to make the hole bigger, it would take a lot more time and effort but you'd have more control over it. Whatever you decide remember to test fit regularly.

Couldn't you just cut the peg down to make it smaller instead of making the hole bigger? I don't know what these figures look like on the inside to be honest, I was just wondering lol

Thanks for the info. I was actually checking some of the prices online to invest in a rotary tool right after posting. In hindsight I really shouldn't have damaged the abdomen area of DCUC supes the way I did so I could just put that piece into the chest of DCSH supes but of course hindsight is 20/20. Anyway, I see this custom more as practice to see how well this idea actually works and I'll probably try to do a more efficient job the next time around if I like how it turns out which I believe I will. I'll probably end up using a regular drill this time but I will most likely invest in the dremel to make it easier on myself next time around, thanks for the suggestion.

you could use a dremel or rotary tool, you just need to be more careful (tend to move around more than a drill), but with a bit of practice not difficult. you could also try using neo or rare earth magnets to make it interchangeable, hope this helps.

I've run into a little bit of a wall. Seems like the cylindrical peg that plugs into the hole in the waist is just a tiny bit larger on DCUC Supes than DCSH Supes, meaning the hole on my DCSH body is just a bit to small for the waist. I'll probably mess around with a drill to try and make the hole a little bigger but I am still very much new to customs; is there a better way to increase the size of the circular hole to fit the peg inside? Using a drill sounds like it would be very easy to cause irreversible damage but I cannot really think of another option.

you have to post so many comments/etc on the forums to be able to post pics, as for links they are filtered sometimes. depending on the link or what it is used for, I just believe you need about 10+ posts and you should have the ability to use the image code to post your pics. hope this helps and you can post the supes in the custom workstation along with any other wips. can't wait to see him.

Does the Public Enemies Superman have the bigger S emblem on the chest or does it use the same one as the DCUC figure? Either way, I actually had an extra figure of both DCSH and DCUC Supes so I've started working on this. I removed the upper half of the body of DCSH Superman and super glued the DCUC cape on him and already the brighter red looks 100x better on him. I'm gonna try cracking open the upper part of DCUC supes tomorrow to take the whole lower half in one piece and plug it into the waist on this guy.

I'm still not allowed to post links on here otherwise I would link a picture of how DCSH Supes' body looks with the brighter red cape. Not only does the red look better but I actually like the way the cape sits on his shoulders better as well. Not to mention that the DCSH cape is just too long. I don't mind the blue used on the Superman figures so much but it wasn't until recent that I noticed that the DCSH figure I still have intact is actually just slightly a lighter shade of blue which I actually prefer but for the sake of this custom, I'm glad the blue on the one I used is darker to match the lower half of DCUC legs.

One thing that does worry me is if this custom Supes will be able to stand since the way the cape had to be glued on its permanently angled back like if the wind was blowing into Superman. Looks pretty cool I think but if the figure can't stand then it will be a problem.

I'll update once I actually have the legs on this guy. Btw, what do I need to do to be able to post pics/links on here? Would love to get some feedback.

Why not try DCUC Public Enemies Supes + DCUC short hared Supes?

- Get PE Supes
- Put DCUC Supes head and fists on him
- Paint the neck a smilar flesh to the head

You end up with a bulkier body, a bit taller than Bats figs and it has a lighter blue shade to boot. The DCSH Supes has a tiny head compared to the DCUC figs. Just passed by with a suggestion bro, don't mind me .
