What didn't anyone tell me these existed!

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

I was going through Wal-Mart, hoping against hope that some idiot had put out some RoTF figures before time and would then do a nice bit of slide of hand and pay twice for a single Animated Figure in the same size class (not that I would ever actually do that mind you! ) and went into the hotwheels lane and looked down for a second and caught my jaw as it fell of. Apparently Hot Wheels has been making these little Star Trek Die-Cast Metal figuriens. They had three difrent ones in stock, the U.S.S. Reliant (Star Trek II), the Enterprise D, and the U.S.S. Enterprise Refit from the end of Star Trek II and the other ones staring the original cast. I grabbed the two Enterprise's. In the same line they also have a weird looking version of the Enterprise which has a new engine design and doesn't look like any version I've seen before and a Klingon Bird-of-Prey.

So...why didn't anyone tell me about these? Send forth the guilty or all must suffer my wrath! In all seriousness, can anyone tell me if there are anyother ships in this line or is it just these five ships? I looked on both the Hot Wheels homepage, which has the most annoying opening music I've ever heard, and the Star Trek main site and haven't been able to find anyother info about them. There is no special subtitle that might denote a special line other then the logo "Star Trek" in the classic faunt.

Uh, actually these are some fairly large ships. The Enterprise Refit is about six inches long from the end of the warp engines to the front of the saucer and the Enterprise-D is shorter, but much wider. I picked them up for $11.97 each. Actually cheaper than I thought it was. They had them on the wrong rack so I thought they were about seventeen dollars each. Lucky break.

Wait, Hot Wheels are making Star Trek ships? I thought Micro-Machines and Playmates had the Star Trek collectibles marked in their hands. That's cool though, now I can get a Hot Wheels Enterprise for $1, if they are going the same rate as the Hot Wheels cars.
