Lord of the Rings Toybiz Action Figures

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

Anybody wish to discuss or share anything about this awesome line of figures made by Toybiz between 2001 to 2005. They made many different packs plus other variations in packaging and the figures. Would be very interested to
hear your collecting stories or great finds etc....Hope to hear from you soon.

Can anybody tell me. Do all the Ringwraith horse and rider sets have the Ringwraith figure with the annoying rubber legs. Just like the legs of Sharku.

The kind of very basic info I have relates to some of the people from Toybiz involved with the making of the figures..!!

I know which company created the packaging design and development for Toybiz.

What do you have.?

Does anyone out there have information about LOTR Toybiz factory errors..?

For example incorrect figures on the card ie Eowyn on a King Elendil card, or incomplete figures..!!

Only thing I remember offhand is that there's a messed-up Legolas who has brown hair instead of blonde. He'd make a good base for a Bard, actually, if you were looking to make your own Hobbit series figs.

Just got my first larger size--around 4 inch (Bilbo) to 6 inch Bridge Direct Hobbit figures (Thorin, Tauriel, Gandalf and Legolas)..These are way better than the 3.75 inch offerings Bridge Direct did.!!
Why did they do the small size at all..!!!! They could have done all the other ones they did in the small size plus the normal version of Bolg (which would have been f^&#en awesome)..silly buggers..!!
The larger figures they did are comparable in quality with the likeness to the characters and good accessories just like the Toybiz figures..Unfortunately Bridge Direct only did 9 figures in the larger size with the Goblin King being the biggest at about 8 inches tall.
Does anybody have Azog, Yazneg, Radagast or the Goblin King they want to sell or trade maybe.??

Yeah bridge direct did an average job. There really aren't many series that can hold a candle to the Toybiz lord of the rings collection. The Bilbo Thorin And Tauriel are all fine but Tauriel needs to be a bit taller to fit with Legolas in LoTR scale and Legolas Gandalf and probably Radagast (the only six inch series figure I don't have but want) are all too small and lacking detail. Thorin and Bilbo are fine they look like the Actors but still need and improved paint job and I replaced my Bilbo's Sting with a Toybiz name one as the hobbit one is terrible in comparison. I would like to get a goblin king and maybe scale him up but I've seen other people do a good job here already so I might just follow their method but I don't feel a longing desire to make a custom of him, which is usually how I end up making characters and customs. They even release pictures of the figures they had made including all of the dwarves, bars, a white warg and Beorn, which infuriated me but sales were low and probably because they didn't research the market or weren't as full on as Toybiz in releasing lots of characters at once.

Yeah I'm a massive Tolkien fan and the 6 films are fantastic. I do a lot of customising for LOTR/ HOBBIT here at figure realm (feel free to check it out) and yeah undoubtably ToyBiz's LOTR figures are THE most dedicated action figure series I can think of other than Star Wars. I often say to my friends with a similar interest that it got to the point where toybiz were like yeah lets make orc from that scene XD. Of course there are a few figures they didn't make like Hama's son, Aragorn at Amon Hen, Prince Imrahil (yes hes in the film just as a suck up guard to Denethor), Barliman Butterbur, the watcher in the water, Mumakil, Bill the Pony to name a lot and some extra's who fans have either speculated are certain characters from the book or have been confirmed or named later like Figwit (now Lindir). I think that the Lord of the Rings figures detail are impecable and theres so many variations and costume changes for each character that they made figures off or small scene changes. I would have loved if they made some diorama's or playsets for display and I was so disapointed with the Bridge Dirrects attempts at Hobbit figures. I had LOTR figures as a child but my dad was obsessed with downsizing and I got out of action figures in my teen years but ended up buying some 3.75/ 3 3/4 inch hobbit figures and was disapointed how quickly they were abandoned in continuation. So I collected all the 6'' ones and most stand up to the correct heigh again the LOTR figures (mainly Bilbo Azog and Thorin, possibly Tauriel) but in comparison (and when I finally get roudn to posting my custom of him) the Gandalf by Toybzix that I have is CENTURIES better than the Hobbit version which si a head shorter. Don't get me started on those factory errors, how many 'EOMER' figures that have Borromir with a Wolverine Dagger or last allience elf or citidel guard haha. I do apoligise if I'm rambling, I just have a heavy appreciation of this figure series and I often use parts from LOTR figures to make Hobbit customs like my Dain Ironfoot custom. Glad to see the love for LOTR, look forward to hearing back from you guys asuming you can be bothered to read my ridiculously long paragraph haha. P.S I WANT THAT BALROG NECA DID.

G'day mate..Just checked out some of your Hobbit and Lotr Customs..I really need one of those Bolgs that you made..A Great Job you have done..It is beyond comprehension why those clowns at Bridge Direct neglected to do a 6 inch version of this

Supa evil spawn of Azog..

They should be shot in front of a firing squad for this and the rest of there lame efforts doing The Hobbit Action Figures..An absolute disgrace.

Hey just had a thought, perhaps we should talk about "Customs and Accessories" on my other Topic that I created.. can u reply to me on this one please..I am very impressed with the Mordor Battle Trolls Helmet that you did for him..I want a couple of these please for my Attack Trolls,

..and yes I couldn't agree more about the Toybiz action figure line as it is very impressive indeed and that is why I am a big fan, plus I reckon all 6 movies are awesome too...Thankyou Deaditor

Hi David..I have seen a new factory error in a YouTube video..It is the red box Aragorn with Brego..Can't remember which side Aragorn is on but they are inside a Red Fellowship Ringwraith box..Have you seen this one.?

Another variant you may not be aware of is the Flame Colour variations with the Battle Cry Uruk-hai..I am not sure if the darker red torches were made prior to the lighter orange ones.!Do you know or can anyone provide this info please.!

and please if anyone out their wishes to sell their French or Spanish version cards with the Battle Cry Uruks inside please let me know.!

I think I have a good sized army of the normal English cards but if the price is right you never know..P.S This is one of my favourite Toybiz figures for sure.

P.S Where are your pictures David.!!Bye for now

Hey Greg, yes I saw the video with the Aragorn Brego inside a Ringwraith box. Unfortunately I never saw this error for sale. I would love to have this figure. And I'm aware of the Battle Cry Uruk Hai torch variant. My 3 Uruks have only the darker red torch and I never saw the lighter version for sale the last 12 month. Even the little army of 12 (?) Battle Cry Uruk Hais I shipped to you Greg had all red torches. But I'm owning the green and blue eyed version of Eomer!

@Deaditor: I'm owning two Neca Balrogs, one is even Mint in sealed box and the other one is quite damaged due to the really bad plastic quality! This figure was so disappointing. It costs 120€ at release but this price was too high because this figure is really really cheap.

Fascinating mate to pick this difference up with Eomer.

Im a bit new to collecting but I love the Trilogy of both films. I recently purchased a bottle of wine given to Sir Christopher Lee by Peter Jackson for his part in the films. Since then I have purchased every Hobbit Toy and some rare LOTR Figures. Any idea which are the most rare items to collect? Its hard to find any websites that actually show the rare ones?

Hello..That bottle of wine sounds very nice indeed..A very collectible piece for sure!!I have just had a look at your profile (Bunny2k) and I noticed that you haven't catalogued your collection.!!
Do this first.!!You need to go into Character profiles and Universe Checklists to do this..These menu options are found under Features..Good luck

Hey Greg,
Would be awesome if we could start a discussion here about the different variants and factory errors that were produced. As you know I'm owning lots of factory errors and most of the variants, but I would like to know if there are more out there than the ones I know.

I will post a list of my stuff during the next days after the Christmas Food Porn and when I'm able to move myself again .

Best regards from Germany and Merry Christmas,
David
