HELP STARTING PROJECT

Posted in Custom Workstation

hi everyone,I've done custom rocky figs befors using paint and laquer but im starting with a new project, need to know a few answers for the questions I have...
(1)I want to use the 3 1/2 inch style indiana jones figures or can you buy a generic naked body figure to the same size anywhere?

(2) how do you go about doing features on the face and body and if your happy with the end product how do you make casts?

3)what sculpting tools are needed for small features,

thanks

There's apoxy sculpt, a 2 part modeling apoxy, you'd need good paints (I use some cheap craft paints) but Citadel paints work well and are waterbased as sometimes plastic doesn't like the solvents in other paints. Good brushes, mixing cups (bathroom throwaways work), stuff to store you supplies in helps too.

resin casting is VERY expensive and a pain. For something that small you'll have to spend about $400 for a compressor and a pressure pot. Dr.Deadman can help you more on that, I do all mine the old fashioned way since I do larger figures. Resin comes in 2 parts and I get it for about 36.00 for both parts and it's about the same for the 2 parts of the rubber to make the molds out of.

as for sculpting tools you'd need very fine tipped ones, which are mostly metal, and you should be able to see the wide selection at any craft shop. I don't know the names for them but there are a ton of them but for something that small you need the finest you can get.
