selling cutoms

Posted in Custom Workstation

ok wats up fellas n gals. you ve seen my customs here and I've seen yours. also I've seen a bunch of your customs on ebay and they ve gone for a lot. good job to you all, but my questions is do u ever think the person who is buying them, is reselling them and calling them their own? we all know how much HARD WORK and fun our customs are to make. but I know for sure that would get me the most pissed. I don't think we can say anything about copyrighting since we re making characters that already exsist. so what do you do? be pissed or say whatever?

I think some people may get offended if one of their custom figs would be bought just to be used as a fodder part... well... if it was me, I'll feel sad and down...
customizers put a lot of effort into their works thinking that someone might like their custom and then he'll find out that his blood, sweat, and tears would just be dismantled to be made into another figure, meaning, his works doesn't matter and his custom is only good for fodder parts.

so I think if that time comes that we really need a certain part of a figure and the only way or the cheapest way to get it is to buy someone's custom fig and use it as a fodder, maybe we should just keep it a secret from him/her... well.. that's just my opinion though....

people have resold my work, twice I've seen it (one was a friend online here because he needed the money), and helped kyle robinson fix his problem too, as long as they credit you it's cool. if not talk to them, or ebay.

I've had a couple of people resell my work (not a problem as long as I'm named as the creator) thing that got me mad as hell was when the winner of some of my iron man toys cut and pasted my listing and pics, then acted like it was no big deal, though ebay and I agreed it was and his account got suspended. my biggest problem is people actually paying for them, so far in the past three months almost of my big sales over $200 have ended up with the winner not paying or contacting me. I'm get to the point where I'm about to chuck it all in due to the amount of stress I've been putting up with.

Yeah, nothing you can really do. I mean we buy them from the store and cut them to pieces and no one can stop us (mhahahahahaha). Maybe we can do some kind of COA with our customs?????

We have a problem like this on a site for movie props. Guys design and make replicas of items from movies/games and make a limited number only to have someone buy them and recast them and claim the things are made by them.

Good question,
What if you bought the custom for its parts ? ie a head you need or a base body ?
would you like the person that bought it to make you aware thats what they are doing or rather not know ?

Once you've sold the custom you have no controll over what people do with it so just be sure you charge what you want fore it.

well getting pissed won't solve anything except make you mad over something that you can really do nothing about it ,I think its one of those situations where you gotta say whatever cuz getting pissed wouldn't help . But I can't honestly say it wouldn't annoy me if it happened
