Transformers Generations

Posted in Action Figure Chatter

I've seen that generations seems to be the TF universe/classics2 replacement line. So far I've seen figures based on The war for Cybertron game and G1. I'm actually only interested in g1 themed things so as of right now I've only bought Thrust and I've discovered that they will be releasing Dirge in wave 4. I'm wondering what the collectors that bought the botcon exclusives and Henkai version think about this considering the price point, they are not quite the same figures but they are close enough.

Let's see, my current TF is as follows

Dirge, I want a new version to match my other classics seekers.
Red Alert, I have a reissue version but this one will match up to Sideswipe/Sunstreaker better.
Kup, I have the original but he is darted and needing a new look.
Wreck-Gar, I've never had this character and the mold looks nice.
Blurr, I don't like the fact that he is a repaint of a newer character but I think he is the best version we will see.
Perceptor, I've always wanted the microscope version but he is a bit pricey so I may settle on this one.
Jazz, the only version I have of this character is Alternators Meister so he is a must buy.
Scourge, I've never owned this character and I have concerns about his alternate mode but he looks a enough like the toon version to warrant a pick up. I might buy 4 more and modify them to have the sweeps.
Tracks, I have a incomplete G1 and Alterator version but I want a modern version of this size class.
Wheeljack, This is a repaint of Tracks but from what I've seen that he has been modded enough to make it worth while. I only have the alternator and a Energon Downshift to represent the character.

Maybes

Windcharger: I like the pictures but I have the g1 and alternator version and I'm not big of the character.
Thunderwing, I've never had this character but I'm concerned about his size.
Rumble and Frenzy: I like the robot modes but I just can't tolerate the new alterate modes.
Reflector, The original Reflector was 3 individual robots which formed into a camera which is called Reflector. The original is expensive and the KOs are too pricey. That being said this figure is just a repaint of generations Perceptor. If they wanted they could have produced a new mold of three robots that could transform into a digital camera but that was too much work.
Grapple, I've never had this character and this is a repaint, but so was the original. This one will comedown to space and cashflow.

these new smaller combiners and the ones who have robots to turn into guns (the g1 target master ripoffs) aren't very impressive. I'm annoyed that the Soundwave from the game isn't a triplechanger considering he has 3 modes and teh cassettes in the game.

Yeah, your right they really do have to mix it up to satisfy everyone's taste as well as leave something to look forward too. Two points though 1-We need some generations beast war figures. 2-There scaling system needs to change, you have deluxe triplechangers/galvatron/cyclonus vs Voyager or Ultra class powerglide/seaspray?

I have the new TFCC magazine and the comic inside shows the ultra class onslaught forming the main limb for bruticus with the shield on his chest. Now I believe that ALL future "generations" Voyager or Ultra class figures should have a third "limb mode" and ALL scout class figures should have a third "limb mode" to make gestalts, think of all the possibilities that can happen with this. True power core combiners, and lots of kick-ass customs!

As long as the keep doing 4-5 figures a wave I'm happy, I can manage that in the budget not including the giant special class ones they did like powerglide and such with the universe classics.

The japanese reissues are the best way to get the g1 stuff. I got a 2 pack last year for 30.00 on amazon. Its an original style pack that only happened in japan. all the reissues (Encore series) over there have slightly updated (years and info) G1 packaging. Hopefully wave 2 of Generations will be good. I think they're doing more game figures, sadly I don't think Soundwave is a triple changer so now stereo form like in the game.

All the Generations figures have been great thus far. I especially like Thrust and Drift. Can't wait to get Dirge as well.

I wish there was a way to get Thundercracker at a decent price so I would have a nice set of the original seekers.

I'm waiting for wave 2. I'd prefer more G1 stuff but I loved the G1 relaunch using War for cybertron and the designs so I'm happy. At least they look like transformers and not some weird gobot reject like ROTF.

I'm sooooo happy Hasbro brought my brand back!!!

ROTF = pure crap

I'm so happy to be getting G1 inspired charaters again with mordern sculp, poa and engeerneering.

I am a bit dissaponted it's not going to be 100% G1 like the classics line but after years of not getting anything I'll guess I'll take the bone Hasbro is throwing me.

I've picked up thrust and my mom bought it for me as a christmas present so I'll have to get back to you on how good it is
