Treebeard Custom Action Figure
I love Treebeard, so when I bought the ToyBiz item I knew what had to be done; I removed his eyes and made new ones, with small clear plastic 'bubbles' and painted balls behind. I was happy to sacrifice the silly glowing lights feature. I did a lot of work on improving the face. I cut off his legs and added a full three inches of hieght, useing solid sections of sculpey, then matched the detail so it blended seamlessly with the rest of the legs. I removed his beard (!) and built-up a new one, useing green tree foliage for toy train landscapes. I sculpted lots of flexible branches for his back, and one for the right side of his torso. (This was the branch that Pippin sat on in the film.) I added tiny green plastic leaves by the hundreds- that was... uh... 'fun'. I sealed all the visible seams and cracks with my standard technique, which invloves sprinkling ground plastic powder onto a crack, then dripping super glue onto the powder; The powder makes the glue dry really fast, and the powder blended with the glue makes the finished patch rock hard. Then, it just needs grinding, or maybe another application of the same. I made the battery hatch invisible. I applied fake green moss, after grinding off the molded lumps of moss which were original. A few leaves in his beard, lots of carving wood grain and texture, and a thorough paint job. After all that, his mouth still moves when he talks, but now his beard and moustache move too!
