Caretaker is one of those superb characters that hasn't been used in comics in years. He was the mentor of Ghost Rider, Blaze and Vengeance and one of the most important characters of the Midnight Sons, so it's important for me to get him right. With my first attempt, which was one of my first customs, I was pretty pleased with the result, but using an older wrestler as a base, the figure just didn't fit in with the ML versions of Ghost Rider and Vengeance, so here's my second attempt.
Using the body of Wonder Man and the head from Hulk Buster Iron Man, I imedietly felt that I had a really strong recipe for this character.
I sculpted some details as you can see on the WIP picture. The hair is from a Mandarin head cast by Black Arachnis, I had cut off the hair because I was moddifying the the Mandarin head for another project, so when I made this figure, I found the hair and it fit perfectly on Wonder Man's shoulders, so I sculpted the hair on his head and attached the Mandarin piece.
The hat, I created using a piece of plastic as a base. I cut out the shape I wanted and added a thin layer of FIXIT Sculpt. Then I put it in a bent position so it would cure curved. Then I sculpted the part on top.
The shovel I made using the same method!
The vest is the same I used on my original Caretaker custom, it's from a wrestler and used to be longer, but I cut it off for appropriate legnth.
I tried to sow a vest at first, but there was just now way of making it work without his long hair getting pushed up, resulting in him always staring into the ground. So I went with this vest instead, and it's good enough.
I love the way this figure turned out, with its colors and everything. It's a 100% better than my first attempt and it looks great with the other figures. I hate the arms of Wonder Man though, and how they pose. But it works!
Hope you guys appriciate it too! :)
