So, I had taken this file of Indy figures I bought at a local Wally World. $1 a piece!!! I won't tell you how many I bought… Even I was disappointed in this line but much like my self satisfying salvage of Superman Returns, I saw potential in the parts over the failure of the line.
All the parts were already there they just needed to be assembled correctly. THe Kingdom of the Crystal Skull figures had a GREAT likeness but they all came either without a hat or with a HUGE hat to accommodate the full head fitting. The figures that DID come with fitted hats looked like pitbulls or looked like out hero was being squeezed through a vice… The eyes were all wonky and the head just looked like dook. So I took those heads and scalped the hats right off. Then I took the KOTCS heads and lopped them off right about the eyebrows. I mated the 2 parts and fitted them back to the standard Indy bodies with the non functioning holsters as well as the KOTCS figures without jackets. I was blown away. I took me 4 years to come to that realization but after I did 2 of these guys I went bucknuts with an exacto and a pair of needle nose pliers.
All in all the result is I think the best likness you can get using ONLY Indy Hasbro parts. After making #1 I immediately combed back through all my fodder boxes looking for these otherwise redonkuolous heads and got to shopping. I now have a small army of these guys and I'm proud to look at em. each one takes about 5 minutes. I think the only thing that would make these even better would just be some dry brushing for that dirty effect and maybe shaving some of the joints down for better articulation. and I'm not above it...
Know anybody looking for a bag of Indy bodies and hats with no heads?
