Hey guys and gals, here is the new Fall of Cybertron Shockwave maxed out with LEDs and Laser effects!

Like many, I was a little bit disappointed in the new Generations FoC figures. They seemed to suffer a reduction in both size and paint apps. Not much we can do with the size, but a full repaint was definitely in order!

Of course I couldn't resist the urge to liven 'ol Skocks up with some pink and purple LEDs!

Shockwave boasts:

Pink LED eye
Pink LEDs in the chest
Pink LEDs in the lower torso

Purple LEDs in his cannon, activated in either botmode and altmode!

Accompanying with the cannon LEDs is a laser blast effect!

I realized I wasn't too bothered by the shorter stature of the new Generations figures but I was bothered by Shockwave's skinny lower legs, which weren't accurate at all to the CG model. So I took the armor plates off a second Shockwave and added them to the inside of his lower legs to fill them out. Makes a huge difference and does not affect transformation!

The cannon is powered by a very G1 styled hose for his arm, the trigger button resides on the cannon itself. Careful planning allowed me to retain the blast feature in alt. mode simply by pressing the top of the space cannon down!

Micro plugs allow secure connections, and the batteries are replaceable!

Enough rambling on, let's let the pics do the talking! Don't forget to check the video demo out to view Shockwave fully! Enjoy!

BTW what size is that led?

I used size 0603 SMD LEDs. They are .6mm long x .3mm tall. Very tough to work with as they are intended to be installed by automated machinery. Takes a fair bit of practice, but I look forward to seeing what you do with 'em!

Lol, I know... fortunately for me, I got a work mate that is into electronics, so he taught me how to solder that stuff properly
The one in the head is also a smd one? Thought it was a regular round one.
BTW, love how you added sound to the gun (watched the video), does it have its own circuit and batteries or do you connect it to the body?

I retained the factory light pipe for his eye, but I imagine a 3mm LED would make a suitable direct replacement. The chip, cannon LEDs, speaker, button, and a connector are all on/in the gun. The connector mates the batteries to the circuit (in the lower torso)via the hose. For flying space cannon mode, the gun plugs directly to the battery, same circuit just eliminates the hose. Then to activate yo u press the top down which hits the button, like in the vid. Pretty clever eh?

Just one more question, I hope you don´t mind... How did you wire the head? Exposed cable behind or drilling through the peg?

I drilled through the head/peg, but I also added a ball jointed neck too, made it a bit easier and added some range.

Looking good. You gave me a great idea, right now I´m in the process of rebuilding one of these and could not find the right led color for it, didn´t know there were pink ones.
Thank you!!!
