She's a real cheerer upper on a rainy day! A semi-invisible cybernetic A.I. with the head of an Anime. Assembled together with a transparent Henshin figure as base, she was inspired by the Cyborg 009 cartoons and gets her name from the American Sci-Fi movie Barbarella. The body is a 10 inch Kaitou Jeanne Henshin Cyborg figure, with the hands & feet from a Belldandy clear resin model kit. Pegs from the original figure were attached to the new hands/feet to allow movement. Although disproportionate with the rest of the body, the petite hands & feet adds to the anime theme and is able to support the figure freestanding. The head is from a Super Chibi-Mon Henshin doll bought pre-painted at the Yamashiroya toy store in Tokyo. With their endless array of toys and collectibles, it was total sensory overload for this average toy enthusiast.
This figure was created as an amalgamation of seeing the Japanese toy culture on a recent trip. Their themes of eternal adolescences meshed with a bio-mechanical future seemed to be the work in progress. Even rudimentary robots are now being slowly introduced into the household lol. And although this figure is just a doll that resembles a living robot, it wouldn't be surprising to see something lifesize in production for the near future.
This is probably how the Nexus-6 line of replicants(like Pris in BladeRunner) started out.
