The New 52... it's a source of controversy among DC Comics fans. Like similar previous changes such as the Silver Age and its Earth One and Two and the DC Universe after the Crisis, the New 52 seems to be the main source of stories being told of characters from DC Comics' rich history.

Regardless of those various things, maybe you will enjoy this customized figure of the current incarnation of Darkseid. It's basically the head, hands and costume details from the DC Unlimited Darkseid figure placed on a larger body. It's one of those projects where I just had to try it. I kept looking at the DC Unlimited figure and thinking it was supposed to be on a bigger body. So I decided to see what I could do, but I didn't want to work on it for more than a day or two as I don't consider it a project I really want to spend a lot of work doing. Amazingly enough, the Darkseid parts fit on the larger body like they were meant to be there. I used a Collect And Connect Trigon figure, because it was the best fit after considering similar figures such as Apache Chief (which seems slightly too tall for this particular project). Trigon's proportions work well for this Darkseid, and it's a pretty blank figure as far as sculpted details and that was neccessary. And it was important to me to use a DC Universe figure so that it would have the same aesthetic as other DC Universe figures... I want it to look like it could be a figure they made. I did have to recreate the body armor on the torso, and this was accomplished by making a push mold of those parts of the Darkseid figure and then pressing it into some aves like sculpting material. I did not recreate the design on his legs; I could not decide if I wanted to simply paint it, like the DC Unlimited figure is, or sculpt it, and I sort of like it without that part of the design so for now at least I consider the figure finished. Automotive vinyl paint is used for the black parts of the costume, and the gray arm areas. I sculpted the rock split look of the Darkseid arms directly onto the plastic of the Trigon arms using a Dremel bit. I'm not bragging, but in person the figure really does look like it was manufactured that way. I drilled areas into the Trigon torso so that the shoulder pad things would fit into the body the same way they do on the MOTUC style figure.

It looks pretty slick and factory made in person, something I wanted for this project, but the photos do accentuate some paint rubs that have already occurred from posing and playing lol.

This is KICK-A$$! Nicely done--the sculpt is solid and the scale is far more accurate!

Thanks fitzjedi. It's something how different it looks on a larger figure.
