Matt Grayson was a circus aerialist in his youth, performing in the travelling Fisk Circus operated by entrepreneur Rupert Fisk. As part of a "protection money" racket, mob enforcer Lester Zucco sabotaged the circus equipment and an exploding stage light left Matt blind while his parents fell to their deaths. Matt left the circus and decided to pursue a law degree. Meanwhile, Matt met Ted "Stick" Wayne, a former prize fighter who ran a dojo and who took Matt under his wing. Wayne taught Matt to fine-tune his other senses to superhuman levels in lieu of his sight and Matt eventually became a skilled fighter, becoming a vigilante. Matt also struck up a romance with his classmate at law school, Barbara Natchios, daughter of police commissioner Jim Natchios. Lawyer by day, protector of Gothell City by night, Matt Grayson is Devilwing.

The base figure for this was an ML Daredevil from the Spider-Man Legends series. I swapped out the head for one from an ML Falcon; dremelling inside the head so it could fit on the Daredevil neck peg. I sculpted on the chest emblem, stripes down the sides of both arms, boot cuffs and mask. The horns on his head were cut from the tips of toothpicks. I decided to add "devil eyes" to the Nightwing emblem and kind of worked horns into the design. I painted everything up and also painted the nunchucks black. Hope you guys like this one. "Devilwing" is a name that has been used by several artists as the name of either a Batman and Daredevil amalgam or a Daredevil and Nightwing amalgam but I really like how it sounds so I'm appropriating that. Thanks for looking!

Nightwing and Daredevil aren't the most exciting characters, costume-wise, but I think you did a good job with the pair. Your sculpting work is solid, particularly on the chest emblem, and I liked the blending you did of the two characters' origins in your description. As a whole, the costume strikes me as being a bit too dark (it makes me think of the Daredevil movie outfit). I think your costume design might have benefited from some more areas of solid black (like the stripes running the length of the arms) and the use of a brighter red, which would have contrasted better.

As an aside, I find myself wondering what this figure would have looked like if you had chosen to mix-and-match DD's original red and yellow outfit and Nightwing's blue-and-yellow disco abomination from the 70s.

Thanks for the detailed critique Patraw. I was kind of going for the dark red of the Daredevil movie outfit as I felt the lighter red would make it look like I had changed too little from the base figure, but I totally get where you're coming from and appreciate the advice. Disco-wing and red and yellow Daredevil does sound like it would make for a more interesting-looking combo!

Thanks for commenting! I was trying to figure out a way to fuse the domino mask and the horns, I don't think it turned out too well and no offence taken!
