So I was dropping into my local comic shop and BOOM!!! An Ultraman figure lay intop of the new arrivals table. I loved this figure. The sculpt was great, the articulation was top notch, the cape had a nice drape across the shoulders. The only thing I hated about this figure was that it was not Superman. I didn't let this reman the case very long but as I'm not totally sold on the New 52 look yet I decided to try a simplified Man of Steel variation in more of a sleek comic style. The webbing of the torso while still cool was ommitted since it breaks up with the articulation. I decided to boil it all down to the wrist cuffs, buckle, and emblem. In the end I think it's a successful look in keeping with a more comic feel.
UPDATE: I decided to rework the "S" since it was a little weakly proportioned. Of course once I did that I was not completely satisfied, so I returned to the idea of the webbing on the torso. Now the "S" looks amazing and I'm not crazy about the webbing. I belive I'm seeing that it is best done with sculpt as well and not simply paint but I was hoping I could make that happen somehow.
There will be further revisions I do believe...
