Okay, this is officially the hardest figure I have ever done!
Since he never actually appeared in the animated movies, I was left with the creative task of designing the look myself. I decided to go with a sort of mish-mash of the comic and movie looks. It ended up leaning more towards the movie side of the camp.
I started with a Spider-Man Classics Green Goblin. I thought that the 50's flight suit look would work great for the character. There were a lot of surface details to get past, but once I had them dremeled down, the fun began! And by fun, I mean totally frickin' hard stuff! It was probably just due to the order I did them in. First, I went into the closet, and dug around in the old Easter Eggs. I came across a nice, shiny gold one that I could see my face in. It reminded me of the gold reflective material used by Astronauts, so I chose it.
Once I had it secured to the head, I used some scraps of vinyl from an old binder to make the metal seal around the dome. I ended up having to sculpt the vest and knee pads. Much harder than it sounds, because I had to sculpt around the dome! The plasma coming from the tip of his finger was a plume of smoke from the Polar Lights Hulk model. I also used the dremel to hollow out his thumb, even though there's no smoke coming out of it. Looks pretty cool though! Also, the canister on his back is from a Sigma 6 Inferno. Finally, my favorite part, the speakers on the sides of his dome were taken from an old model car. It was really though to paint, because I had to mask off his dome, but I think it came out alright!
I'll post pics of him with his base once I can find one. Be sure to keep a lookout for the next figures in the series: Roger the Homunculus, Herman von Klempt, and the War Ape!
Tell me what you think!
