Eddie Van Halen (Musicians) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:19714
Name:Eddie Van Halen
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Musicians
Date Added:February 2, 2010
Base Figure:Captain Marvel, Toby Maguire Head
Height:6.50 inches
My son wanted me to do an Eddie Van Halen Figure for him. I started with a Toby Maguire head from the first Spiderman movie and I flattened the nose a little bit. I used a Captain Marvel base and sculpted some overalls and bandana. I had to trim the "giraffe" neck. It's still a little bit too long, but I trimmed all I could without doing damage to the neck peg. I sculpted some hair and painted. The base is an Identity Crisis base that has a VH logo photo glued and sealed over it. The real challenge was the guitar. I made it out some bamboo back scratcher I found at the dollar store. I used a bench grinder and Dremel to make the shape of the guitar and then did a lot of sanding, then painted and "Voila", one guitar. The guitar strap is just some black elastic with some hooks on the ends. I'm giving this to my son for his birthday. Let me know what you think.

Make DLR next so that he and Eddie can have a falling out, LOL! Seriously though, great figure (awesome hair!) and I love the detail on the guitar; I can definitely appreciate the time it takes to work on a prop like that. More plz!

That is one utterly fantastic piece of work! The likeness of the face is uncanny, but making the guitar from scratch? That definitely earns you an A+! I hope your kid appreciates your talent.

"You Really Got Me",...This custom is "Unchained",..."Could This Be Magic?"...Yes!-"Me Wise Magic",..."Somebody Get Me a Doctor",...This brings new meaning to "Little Guitars". Now "Push Comes to Shove"...Since you were clever enough to "Finish What You've Started", I've got to "Get Up" and make my own little Eddie. You'll "Hear About it Later"...
Great work! This is the first Eddie custom that I've ever seen. Man, I've been trying to figure out for the longest time what head to use for an Eddie. I keep going through my stash of fodder and I just don't have anything that would work. The Tobey Maguire head was an excellent choice, I never would have thought to use that one. I WILL DEFINITELY BE RIPPING THAT IDEA OFF I already have the hair and the body parts that I intend to use, but they are not quite as "buff" as the base figure you used.
