Casey Jones Review - Added by RMaster007
Tuesday, February 17, 2026

The tone of the 2003 TMNT series set it apart greatly from its predecessor, focusing more on action and character development than goofy, standard 80s Saturday morning cartoon plots. It also loosely adapted some of the stories from the original Mirage comics, even being co-produced with the company behind the Turtles. This also meant character personalities were a bit more like said comics, including Casey Jones, who had more depth to his character than his '87 series counterpart did, who was just an infrequently appearing ally with a few screws loose. Thanks to Super7, the true Casey has a new figure.

While Casey wears a hockey mask like usual, you can see his eyes through it unlike his prior counterparts, and for such small eyes, the work is pretty clean (save for some bleed on the left eye). The mask itself stays true to the semi-angular style of the cartoon, and is an off-white color with a shinier finish than the rest of the body. The hair is different from the Caseys before him, being long and messy like his New Line trilogy counterpart, and is blue instead of solid black (it's a cartoon; hair can be any color). The hair on the figure is made of a softer plastic to keep it from restricting head movement, and there's some wash to it as well. There's an unmasked portrait as well, with a serious look and clean paint for the brows and eyes. I think a matte finish would've made it look better, as we've seen Super7 do it before with some Ultimates (including wave 9 of TMNT, before they switched to '03 figures), and it always turns out very well.

At about 6 7/8" tall, Casey is a bit more on the slender side than the others, but his upper body and arms are still quite muscular. The arms are a little simpler in detail than the vintage toy-accurate Ultimates before him, but the muscles look great, and the joints blend in well, including the double-jointed elbows (can't say the same for the knees, though). Aside from his maroon tank top, Casey also wears sweatpants with stripes on the sides and zippers on the bottoms, as well as blue and orange sneakers. The shape of the legs is also quite simple, aside from some bagginess at the bottom of the sweats, and the dark colors are good, though the paint is a little rougher than the rest of the body.

The articulation on the '03 Turtle figures has been above average for Super7, as they give them more joints than they're accustomed to. Casey moves as well as the others so far, with movement at the head, shoulders, biceps, elbows (double-jointed), wrists, chest, waist, hips, thighs, knees (also double-jointed), calves, and ankles. The head has plenty of tilt, alongside the different portraits swapping with ease, and the ball chest and waist work great together despite having some limitations. The double-jointed elbows and knees work great as well, having plenty of bend, though the sculpt of the arms leaves the upper elbow joints in a semi-bent position. You can force them back a bit to get the arms straight, so it's not as bad as Splinter.

As a sports-loving vigilante, Casey comes with his usual equipment, including two baseball bats, a hockey stick, a golf club, and a golf bag to hold it all. You'll have to pop off the head to get the bag on him, but the soft plastic of the strap makes fitting it on a breeze. He also comes with three pairs of hands - gripping, closed, and relaxed - and they swap easily, though I would've liked a pair of vertically-hinged gripping hands for better weapon poses. A piece of the mask by itself would've been nice as well, given there's already an unmasked head with him. Speaking of which, the Super Pack, which could only be gotten if you pre-ordered the whole wave directly through Super7, includes a third head for Casey, with windblown hair and eyes looking off to the side. I wish this head was included with the figure itself, as it's my favorite portrait of the three.

Super7 already put out a decent Playmates-style Casey beforehand (alongside a Mirage-themed redeco), and aside from some issues, he was pretty good. This version, however, like the other '03 figures, blows his OG counterpart out of the water, with a great sculpt and better articulation than before. Super7 already revealed the next wave, which should go up for pre-order soon, and I'll certainly be going for it, but the higher prices than before are going to sting for my finances.

Splinter Review - Added by RMaster007
Thursday, February 12, 2026

Although Shredder is the Turtle's main foe, he's been a rival of their sensei/father, Splinter, for longer. His backstory varies between adaptations: be he a normal rat belonging to Hamato Yoshi that became anthropomorphic due to mutagen, or Yoshi himself being turned into a rat, that rat is always ensuring his adopted turtle sons are properly trained to defeat him. Given that the latest wave of Super7's TMNT 2003 Ultimates has Shredder, it's no surprise that his rival is there as well.

Unlike past versions of the character, Splinter's 2003 counterpart had gray fur instead of brown (something that would also apply to his IDW and Rise incarnations). Aside from that, he also has a little beard and big white eyebrows, accompanying a neutral, but somewhat stern, expression. He looks just like the cartoon, retaining a simple and slightly angular design, and the fur around the neck is a separate piece of soft plastic, so that it can move along with the head. The alternate portrait isn't too different, though it gives Splinter closed eyes, as if he's meditating, which fits the character well. The figure was sculpted by Tom Chouinard III, and for future reference, Tom did the good guys in this wave, while David A. White did the bad guys.

Standing 5 1/2" tall, this Splinter differs from Super7's previous Ultimates of him in that his robe is sculpted rather than tailored. Given it's not just a big piece of pink fabric unlike his original toy design, I can see why. That said, the robe is more soft plastic, so that it doesn't get in the way of articulation, and it's two separate pieces so the chest can move. The sleeves look great as well, though it would've been nice if the forearms were visible through the sleeves; the flat ends to the fronts of the sleeves look low-effort to me. The rest of the sculpt looks great, and the articulation blends in well, including the double-jointed elbows and knees. The colors are good too, and while most of the paint is on the edges and belt of the robe, everything is very clean.

Splinter is well off when it comes to movement, mainly since Super7 gave more of a damn than usual with these versions of the characters. He has a barbell head and chest, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows (double-jointed), wrists, hips, knees (also double-jointed), and hocks, swivel biceps and thighs, and a ball-jointed tail. He's quite plentiful when it comes to joints, but some areas are limited. The chest doesn't have a ton of tilt, but it moves a little better than the previous Ultimate Splinters, and the sculpt of the arms leaves the elbows in a bent pose; no chance of letting the arms fully relax. I would've liked some more motion in the feet, as while the hocks work fine, joints at the toes would've let Splinter achieve more dynamic poses. Also, you will need heat when swapping heads, but the hands swap fine.

Speaking of which, Splinter has plenty of hands, with ten total; that's more than the other '03 figures have gotten. He has pairs of relaxed, gripping, closed, and splayed hands, a flat left hand, and a right hand with the index and middle fingers extended, all of which work well in plenty of poses. He's equipped with his walking stick, and the gripping hands can hold it either in the traditional way or like a staff. Four little turtles are included, likely to represent his sons pre-mutation, and there are two each of two different sculpts, with the heads tilted to opposite sides. Lastly, Splinter's own pre-mutated form is included, as this version of him started off as a plain rat rather than a human. The little rat is assuming a defensive stance, and the sculpt is good, even having a ball-jointed head. Pre-ordering the whole wave directly from Super7 also got you a "Super Pack" with extra accessories, but none for Splinter, so if you didn't go that route, you're not missing out on anything for him.

Admittedly, Splinter is the weakest figure of the wave. Don't get me wrong, he's a great figure, it's just that he's not quite as fun as the others. If the articulation was a little better, then he'd be as equally enjoyable, but I'm still satisfied with what we got, and he'll go great with everyone else in the 2003 waves so far.
