Action League now! Thunder girl parts Topic - Added by Dragon28
Thursday, March 13, 2025

Hello, First time posting! But I've been signing up to almost every Retro toy website I can for help! I'm trying to do a recreate of the figures from Nickelodeon show: Action League now! I've already got the Conan figure for "The flesh". The Gi joe figure for "Stinky diver" and all I can find on Meltman is it might be a GI joe "Cobra figure". I'm in desperate need for help trying to figure out parts for Thundergirl!

All I saw from the Wiki it says a Sidney doll head and a modded She ra figure! But I'm not so sure about the she ra body? A lot of my researching so far, i can say that most of the figures all came from Hasbro roughly around 1990 and 1994! I've just been in recent contact with the creator of "Kablam!" after talking to the artist, and he's going to provided me with pictures of the figures he still might have soon. Also Bob was kind to try and reach out for me to the creators of Action League now. So Any updates I'll let you all know!

But I'm looking for anyone's who's willing to help me find more clues or might know details to the parts? I'm trying to find the everything that might have used: Torso, arms that have the elbow joints, and epically the legs of the figure!! That have a certain Boot design. I was almost for sure that it might have been a wrestle figure but haven't found anything still. Hope to hear for anyone soon! I hope I provided the pictures well?

Beetlejuice (Tour Guide) Review - Added by RMaster007
Wednesday, March 12, 2025

I feel we've all heard of Beetlejuice, be it through the film or the animated series, and there's no denying he's the ghost with the most. I've seen both the original film and its sequel twice by now, and they're both great horror-comedies. NECA's had a bit of history with the first film, as it was the first line of figures they've made, and now we're getting Ultimates. The first Ultimate for him is this "Bio-Exorcist" outfit which, while not as iconic as his striped suit, was his main look for most of his screen time.

The front flap of the box depicts what looks like a flyer for Betelgeuse's (pronounced Beetlejuice) services, with an aged, unfolded appearance. The movie logo is a sticker in the upper right corner, and it can be removed if you so desire. As per usual, there are photos of the figure on all the other sides, and it's easy to get everything inside out of the tray, provided you cut out the ties and tape first.

Since this isn't NECA's first Beetlejuice, they know how to handle him by now. The Michael Keaton likeness is very accurate, with all the makeup as well. The skin is a pasty white, with what looks like patches of mold around the face and other parts of the skin to create a more decayed look. The hair is nicely detailed, and it turns transparent near the ends, creating a bit of realism and semi-ghostliness. The default portrait is looking off to the side, resembling the original poster, but he also has three extra faces. Not heads, faces. They did swappable face plates before with Gargoyles, and now they're reaching other licenses, likely taking cues from S.H. Figuarts and Figma and all the other overseas figures. In addition to the "poster" face, you also get one looking forward with a less wide-open mouth, a somewhat intrigued/surprised expression, and a more disgruntled face. The faces swap with no issues, though the unique assembly means the hair and face are a bit off-center on the neck.

At about 7 3/8" tall, the "Name in Laughter from the Hereafter" is sculpted by Jason Frailey and dressed in his aforementioned bio-exorcist clothing. The shirt, overlaying a sculpted undershirt, has a unique pattern that's painted on pretty well, and the shapes remind me of little devils, which makes sense for the character. The trench coat is also soft plastic, with a very wrinkled look and some of the same moss seen on the skin. The one I got has a small cut in the right side, likely a manufacturing error. The hands also have some moss, albeit only painted on rather than sculpted, and there's a little ring on his left index finger (the sequel sort of explains why). His striped pants have two belts wrapped around the waist (gotta keep that gut in), and his socks and shoes are mismatched, indicating Beej's not the neatest person. The paint all over is clean, including the pants pattern and wash on the shoes, and it makes for a nice, almost realistic look.

The usual NECA articulation is present on BJ, with a barbell head and chest, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles, ball-jointed hips, and swivel thighs. The joints are good enough for a variety of poses, but it's not all perfect. The first one I got had a chest that was stuck really tight, and when trying to break it free, I ended up twisting the joint apart (probably should've heated it up). The second one had a good chest, but the right foot suddenly snapped off as I was posing it. Thankfully I still have the other one, so I was able to swap out the leg. Overall, he can pose fine, but the QC leaves a bit to be desired.

The Ghost with the Most is pretty good when it comes to accessories. I already mentioned the extra faces, but he gets an extra head as well, wearing his tour guide hat. Thanks to the soft material for the hair, the heads swap easily, and then in combination with the faces can create eight different looks for him. NECA likes doing paper extras at times, and one of them here is the "Afterlife" newspaper, which can open up, with text and images on both sides (R.I.P. Sarah and Maxie Dean, you will not be missed). He also has his business card as well, bearing some of the graphics as the advert on the box and the newspaper. Non-paper accessories are his lantern and a rat that can rest in his hands. Speaking of which, there are six hands here: two semi-splayed, two loosely grasping, a pointing right, and another right for holding a card. Like the heads and faces, I had no issue swapping hands, and they come in handy with the various extras.

While it's not the most iconic look for him (don't worry, NECA already has that covered), this bio-exorcist Beetlejuice is pretty fun. The sculpt and paint are great, and the various extras work well with him. My only nit is that the joints could be a little better (as in, not having to get two and both of them breaking a joint), but it really depends on how lucky you end up being. Hopefully, NECA can try and do some more characters beyond him; the Maitlands would make for great figures.

Comments: It all started mid Sept 2023 I accidentally dropped a goku dragon stars figure it looked like it broke but the torso just detached from the legs so I put it back together than started taking apart the extremities and put them back together then the lightbulb turns on what if I start mixing some parts of other figures together then I did and that's where it all started for me simplicity is key and for myself affordability reigns supreme every custom I've posted thus far cost me less than $15 they're not much but at that price point I would hope it can inspire others to jump 🦘 on board one doesn't need to be super talented to start a simple repaint a head swap or parts swap is a great springboard so if you can start would really like to see what you can come up with

Guerrilla Gorilla Review - Added by RMaster007
Wednesday, March 5, 2025

Super7's TMNT Ultimates line has featured a wide selection of characters, mainly well-known figures from the vintage toy line, but a few deep cuts as well. New figures of more valuable vintage releases like Scratch and Undercover Raphael, characters lifted from the Mirage comics like Karai, and unique variants and new looks added more variety to the line-up, but then there's Guerrilla Gorilla, a character that isn't any of that. He came from the lesser-known TMNT Magazine by Welsh Publishing in the early 90s, and until now, it's unlikely most fans of the franchise knew who he was or the source material was. You'd be forgiven for thinking he's something Super7 just made up, but no, he's an actual character, and he finally has a figure.

In order to fit in with the rest of the line's aesthetic, Guerrilla's appearance had to be revised a bit from how he looked in the source material. Alex Brewer, who did Scratch, sculpted this big lug, and it's certainly a step up from the admittedly off-looking comic he was featured in. The head is somewhat wide, matching the rest of him, and the detail on the face and fur is great. The army helmet bears a realistic look, and is designed to fit over the buzzcut underneath. In addition to the default happy expression, he has a more fierce head sculpt roaring like an ape. While both heads look good, the details are a little softer than they were in renders, especially on the alternate head. The paint is decent and has some wash on the skin, though the roaring head suffers from more slop and marks than the happy one. Also, why aren't the ears painted tan like the face? They really should be.

GG stands around, if not over, 8" tall, and while there have been a couple of figures beforehand who were that tall, this guy is much chunkier and heftier than them. He's also beefier than his original appearance, with a massive upper body and thick fur on the arms. The fur has a washed appearance, and the lines where the fur ends on the hands are clean. Over it is a vest with clean gold accents, as well as a bandolier that, along with the dog tags, are removable. The vest doesn't seem to be glued on, so it technically could be removable as well, but good luck doing that with the big shoulders. The pants have an army camo look, being tan with brown and green patterns, and the lines are clean, though mine has some missing paint on one of the stripes. The legs are pretty chunky, though not as much as the arms, and the back is designed for a full knee bend. No worrying about limited range in the joints like more than a few Ultimates have suffered from.

Speaking of which, double-G has about the same level of articulation as everyone else, with a barbell head, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles, swivel biceps and thighs, and ball-jointed chest and waist. A couple of the joints are tight and ratcheted, but still move with no issues while ensuring they'll hold a pose. Well, almost, as the hip swivels are pretty loose, similar to Punker Don from this same wave, and they should've been ratcheted too. Also, the torso joints aren't quite as good as I hoped, as the chest doesn't have too much tilt save for when it's leaning back, and the waist is really more of a swivel than anything. He has extra hands (more on those below), but they're really tough to swap, so you'll want to heat up the forearms when swapping the first few times. I had no trouble swapping heads, however.

Despite his size, the Gorilla has a ton of accessories because Super7 needs another reason to make people fork over 75 bucks for him. The "Banana Bazooka" is a unique and fitting weapon, and it's pretty big, too. The bazooka looks pretty simple, but the vine wrapped around it adds a bit to the look of it, and the big banana can be swapped out for a coconut (possible DK64 reference?). Then there's his "Monkey Machine Gun," also wrapped in vines, and the silvery finish on it is pretty good. Other weapons include a machete and a trio of grenades, fitting the character's army-inspired nature. He also has seven regular-sized bananas, meant to fit into the bandolier rather than in his hands, and sunglasses that fit on the regular head, though not the alternate head. As for the multitude of hand options, he has a pair of open hands, closed hands, ape-walking hands, a vertically-hinged right grip for the bazooka, a vertically-hinged left grip for the machete, and a pair of grips that can be used with the machine gun. Since the plastic used from the hands is pretty tough, you'll want to heat them up before putting the weapons in to avoid damaging them.

For someone who more than half of the TMNT fandom didn't know existed, Super7 did an amazing job with Guerrilla Gorilla. He's not perfect, mainly when it comes to the hands, hips, and heads, but the huge sculpt and plentiful extras make him tons of fun. That said, $75, higher than average for Ultimates, for a very deep-cut character makes him a bit of a tough sell, but it paid off well for S7, though you'll want to look for a deal to really want to jump on him.

Kevin Eastman (Garbage Man) Review - Added by RMaster007
Tuesday, March 4, 2025

As we all know, last year was TMNT's 40th anniversary, and more than a few companies were celebrating. NECA knew just how to honor the milestone, and while they put out a SDCC-exclusive two-pack of the initial Turtle designs, followed by a redeco for mass retail, NYCC saw them going a step further and making a figure of co-creator Kevin Eastman. This figure apparently comes from a deleted scene from the 1990 movie that was reduced to, I believe, a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo. Now that's a deep cut!

Since Eastman worked as a garbage man in the film, it's only fitting that his box art be modeled after a dumpster. It's designed to have some age on it, with plenty of rust, stains, and graffiti, and the motif in general is really nice and unique. This is a window box with a fifth-panel flap, of course, like NECA's other Ultimate figures, and getting the constraints out was no issue.

This is definitely a younger Eastman from the time of the movie's filming, and it certainly looks like him, thanks to Trevor Grove. He has curly, somewhat shaggy hair and a thin mustache, and the face and head look accurate to late-20s Eastman. The eyes are a bit squinted, but the happy expression they chose is nice. The paint is done by Geoff Trapp and Mike Puzzo, the usual painting duo for NECA, and the work on the head is alright, but the hair edges could be a bit cleaner, and there are some very small marks on the face as well.

Standing a little bit over 7" tall, the rest of Eastman was sculpted by Kyle Windrix, and he's got a standard garbageman uniform on him. I couldn't find any pics of him from the movie, but the outfit looks great. It's mainly a light, somewhat blueish-black, with a cleanly painted name tag on him, and underneath the uniform is a checkered plaid white and blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves. The shirt pattern looks great, and the edges on the outfit are clean. The outfit is somewhat baggy, especially on the pants, and the creases are pretty deep. The shoes look great as well, thanks to the paint wash, and there are clean lines on the soles.

Articulation is about as good as the rest of the movie figures, with Kev having a barbell head, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees, ball-jointed waist and ankles, and swivel thighs. I can see why they did ball ankles as opposed to swivel/hinge ones, and they tilt well enough to keep the feet flat in deeper stances. The joints in general move fine, but I really wish NECA would quit using those semi-ratcheted hips for this line. I get that they want to be consistent, but there have been more than a couple of movie figures with ball hips, and they should stick to those from now on.

There's not too much in terms of accessories, but what's included is very fitting. Since he's a garbageman, Eastman of course has a garbage bag, stuffed with cardboard and bubble wrap to make it look full, and while he only has one set of hands, he can still hold it in his left hand by the tied straps, thanks to the softer plastic used. And since this is the co-creator of TMNT, he has a clipboard with four turtle sketches on them, and a pen to hold in his right hand, four of them, in fact, so that you have backups in case you lose one. The most unique extra here is the big sewer lid, which was implemented at 28 Union St., Dover, New Hampshire to commemorate the franchise's big 4-0. It's very accurate to the actual lid, with "LAIRDMAN ISLAND" on one side, and the engraved silhouette of the four turtles on the other, and the texture and paint bring out the realism.

Never in the history of TMNT would anybody think Kevin Eastman gets an official action figure, but NECA made it happen, and they did great. The paint and articulation could be a little better, but I'm satisfied with the result. NECA recently revealed a second version with a recolored shirt at the New York Toy Fair, so if you missed out on him when he was available, then you'll have another chance.
