Robert Lee "Bob" Backlund (August 14, 1949) was an accomplished amateur wrestler for North Dakota State University in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He made his professional wrestling debut for the American Wrestling Association in 1973, and had an in-ring career spanning over 30 years. He is a two-time WWWF/WWF Champion, with the third-longest combined championship reign of all time, behind Bruno Sammartino and Hulk Hogan. Backlund continued to work in the pro wrestling industry in various capacities after his wrestling days tapered off, and he was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame on January 21, 2013.
