Rico made his debut in the WWF on the March 21, 2002 episode of SmackDown! as the stylist for Billy and Chuck, who were portraying villainous characters. He embraced a gimmick of a homosexual stylist. Rico's first official match in WWE took place on the May 9 episode of SmackDown!, where he teamed up with Billy and Chuck to defeat Al Snow, Maven, and Rikishi. At Judgment Day, Rico was compelled to team up with Rikishi to challenge and defeat his own clients, Billy and Chuck, for the WWE Tag Team Championship. However, on the June 6 episode of SmackDown!, Rico betrayed Rikishi by assisting Billy and Chuck in defeating him for the tag titles.

On September 12, 2002, Rico switched to the Raw brand and became the manager of the heel tag team 3-Minute Warning, consisting of Rosey and Jamal. He eventually turned on 3-Minute Warning after they lost a match against the Dudley Boyz. After this, Rico Miss Jackie became his manager and he began emulating the flamboyant style of Adrian Street. He painted his face and grew out his hair.
On the March 22, 2004 edition of Raw, Rico was drafted to SmackDown! and experienced a shift in popularity, becoming a fan favorite due to his over-the-top exótico style gimmick. He formed a tag team with Charlie Haas, initially reluctant, and together they held the WWE Tag Team Championship from April to June before losing the belts to the Dudley Boyz. WWE released Rico from his contract on November 7, 2004.
