Manipulated by Emperor Palpatine into fighting Luke in a lightsaber duel, Darth Vader battles fiercely but encounters in his son a challenging opponent who inflicts severe damage upon the Dark Lord. But Vader discovers Luke's true strength - and his own redemption -- when his son puts down his lightsaber to allow himself to be destroyed rather than take the life of his father.
