Haradrim Archer Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Series 4 Rated 3.00 stars by Deaditor When it comes to Human figures the more articulated newer ones seem to either be great or weird. I always felt this figure a bit too marvel like in style but he was made by Toybiz so there’s your answer but yeah couldn’t put my finger on it as a kid. I’m no a fan of this figures articulation. It may be super poseable but whilst it has loads of detail and a wooden sword, bow and arrows he fails at holding anything to the point where I ended up just gluing the bow in his hand, which I’m usually against doing but even heat or gluing the hand so it has a firm grip didn’t work so I was left no choice. I think it’s cool to have a load of harassing archers, I have 4 or 5 myself and would love to make a mumakil or at least the tower to a smaller more realistic scale but still something...[See More]
Your absolutely right, he can't hold a thing to save his life! I just had to hang his bow and sword on his quiver and about once a month I find this guy has fallen over on my shelf like he had been shot by Legolas!
Ringwraith Gift Pack Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Gift Packs Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor I like this one for value. A lot of repackaged figures are thrown together in odd combos or with inaccurate characters/ costumes based on time in the story, but I appreciate the fact you can buy a witch king, twilight ringwraith and a regular ringwraith together as a starter to gettin the full set of 9. They all have their own unique articulation which I’ve explained in other reviews of the figures on their own and overall what can you say but this is a very useful giftpack with some decent figures which whilst hey aren’t perfect are a opportunity to buy them all together without wasting more money on single card backs or other gift packs as they aren’t repackaged much....[See More]
Coronation Gift Pack Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Gift Packs Rated 3.00 stars by Deaditor It’s an appropriate gift pack to make and typical of toybiz’s completionist ways but each figure I have my issues with. Faramir has just a head issue where it’s not tr beat sculpt and painted average and a bit too small, Eomer is ok but his skin is quite a sickly yellow colour rather than his actual complexion, Arwen is too tall, manaquin like in form and movement and sometimes sloppily painted, Aragorn is therefore too short compared to her and sometimes the paint job is off but I don’t have many issues with this figure though a softgoods cloak would be better and the paint job is silver when in the film it’s clearly darker and lastly like Arwen, Eowyn’s vinyl dress gets in the way of her articulation but other than that she’s fine. So overall it’s not a terrible but not amazing set and...[See More]
Pelennor Fields Gift Pack Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Gift Packs Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor Again we get another out of place Legolas. This one has a unique paint job of more silver colours and mine had gold tipped rubber arrow heads which are silly and a more unique head. However it’s just the two towers Legolas AGAIN. The set also has your basic Gimli, but the reason to DEFINITELY get this set are the 3 unique figures of the Mumakil rider, soldier of the dead and the Morannon Orc (which is basically Grishnákh with a new head and no fur pelt, but this is a good idea I can see why it was done) the mumakil rider and soldier of the dead are both very well articulated and look great and the Morannon orc is fine for what you get as I’ve alwys liked the Grishnákh figure articulation anyway. There’s not much to say but buy this set it’s worth the exclusive 3 figures, but it’s another...[See More]
Final Battle of Middle Earth Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Gift Packs Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor Interesting that they did 2 Black Gates gift packs with some of the characters being the same, you’d thing they’d take the opportunity to have more characters rather than reboxinf others with new ones, like a better Eomer who fought at the back gate or another orc perhaps. What you get instead is another Aragorn figure that at this point of collecting you’ve got piles of him, the same gandalf the white as they other gift pack and for some reason Legolas now in his Helms Deep gear. So the only new figures here are a Battle Troll which is awesome and Merry and Pippin in their Rohan/Gondor armours. Both hobbits are nicely detailed though Merry is the better of the two seeing as Pippin has a massive ugly button on his back inhibiting movement. They both have swords removable helmets and look...[See More]
Black Gate of Mordor Gift Pack Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Gift Packs Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor If I was just reviewing the Mouth of Sauron I’d easily give him a 5, but the accompanying figures leave something to be desired. I got this set in my youth and loved playing with the figures but even as a kid Aragorn bugged me as his shouting face is just not something I would have chosen, the articulation is fine but the heavy vinyl robes inhibit it a bit and the cloak falls off constantly. I believe the Gandalf in this set is unique to gift packs as he has the more wild hair and gritting teeth showing he’s in the middle of combat, but he utilises then same body as the two towers version though some versions have improved arm articulation but still have the action feature. The details are nice and the cloth poncho is a nice touch. As for Legolas and Gimli you get a standard Gimli but...[See More]
Yeah..I've got about 8 Mouth of Saurons now ( not all with steeds ). A fantastic figure with horse and yes the reason to get this set for sure.
Legolas & Horse Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Deluxe Horse & Riders Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor Another decent rider ser but as usual the horse is the best part. The horse is great being the same articulation as all the horses and has nice detail and Rohirrim armour, but Legolas has rubber legs as most of the mounted figures do and the headsculpt and paint apps are some of the worst for Legolas. It’s cool to have a softgoods tunic skirt for Legolas even the silvery grey undershirt part, but I pretty much took this and gave it straight to a normal articulated Legolas and swapped him out because it’s not a great Legolas and has a button slashing attack aciron feafure. He comes with a softgoods cloak also with awhile it so you could take a two towers Legolas, take the quiver off the vinyl cloak, stick it on his back then put the cloak over it for the desired effect. Legolas comes with...[See More]
Fell Beast & Ringwraith Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Deluxe Horse & Riders Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor Now this is a cool addition Toybiz released. You get a Fell beast with piseable wings that comes with your standard Nazgul and sword. It’s definitely a bit small but decent enough, personally I turned mine into an armoured one and beefed up the head a bit to get him to look a little less small and silly. Overal this is a must have figure, it looks great and is an iconic creature from the book and movie....[See More]
Aragorn (Pelennor Fields) & Brego Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (Toy Biz) - Deluxe Horse & Riders Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor As he leads his men to the black gates to make a stand to buy Frodo enough time to sneak into Mordor keeping sauron a eye fixed on him instead, Aragorn dons a more appropriate attire to show he has accepted his mantle as the heir of Isildur, but is not quite king yet. I like the design of this costume, I hear that Peter Jackson was very keen to have Aragorn in full armour like st his coronation but Vigo pointed out that this invetween costume would be a better easing into the role to show he’s accepted the responsibility but has not declared himself King yet. Moving onto this pack, we get Aragorn in his “Pelenor Fields” attire (called as such as it’s what he wears as he marches from minas tirith) and comes with Brego now in a more regal horse cloth and Anduril flame of the West the...[See More]
Grishnakh Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 5 Rated 4.50 stars by Deaditor I don’t have any massive complaint with this figure other than its colour being off as Grishnákh isn’t orange day or night. His skin colour reminds me of granite if anything but a bit darker with some purples in. Anyway he comes with a scimitar in his left hand and an open right hand has all the detail the character has and has an action feature of pressing a button allows the figure to swipe with the scimitar. So it’s not too in the way. This figure is repackaged a lot and fun fact the moranon orc is just a grishnahk diffuse without the fur pelt and a new head. Overall it’s a perfectly adaquate figure with decent enough articulation for an older figure and I’ve always liked it...[See More]
