Write a Review link for that item. Aliens (Kenner) (Kenner)Wow! Where to begin? ATAX was possibly one of my top ten action figures growing up. I loved the idea of having two figures in one. The marine was decent, wearing what looked like a futuristic space suit, but once you snapped on the alien armor on him, that is where the figure really, really shone. One of this figures strong points is how securely the armor would stay on the figure: The feet/leg armor snapped on the sides of his legs, and the backpack which is attached to his mechanical arms would slide onto a tab on his back and stay very securely. The helmet has a space that fits perfectly onto ATAX's head, unfortunately, after several times removing and replacing it,the back of his head and face could rub off some plastic and paint, however it would still stay on very snugly. Another strong point is the level of detail, both paint and mold-wise. I remember very little, if any paint slipping, his orange hair had a small vertical white stripe running down the front, and there were bluish-green spots on his legs, simulating Aliens-like anatomy detail. There were spikes on his leg armor, hydraulics on the man's legs, downward pointing blades protruding from his backpack, and various swirls and indents on the helmet. The space where his face went also had a detailed scope that lined up with his eye. The figures arms and legs were on swivel joints, so there was limited poseability there, however, his mechanical arms are attached with ball joints, so that helped the figure's dynamism slightly. The only real downside to this figure is also one of the coolest: The action feature. The firing missile on his helmet. It blends in perfectly with the rest and covers the human head, making it seem like better camouflage against the Aliens, however it gets lost very easily. Without it, the red head of hair is very obvious, which is a pity. Overall, I would give this figure a 5, factoring in the time it was made, which excuses the articulation level somewhat, and the high fun level. If you enjoy playing with your figures, I would strongly recommend picking this one up, it is a LOT of fun, specially if you get one of the other alien figures for battle.  by karloavera |
