Bumblebee / Sam Witwicky Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (Hasbro)First thing you may notice, as I did, is that this item comes with a pretty hefty price tag. You're looking at a $30+ purchase. That being said, I do feel that the figure is worth it. Car-Mode In car-mode, Bumblebee looks fantastic. Thankfully, there are no large noticeable cracks, so the car-mode looks pretty much seamless. I would go as far to say that it could pass for a straight car model. The yellow is nice and solid and the decals are neatly painted and detailed. Bee's wheels all move independently, very smooth and they never catch. The only problem is that the doors (which can open and close) are a bit out of place on their hinges, so it takes a bit of maneuvering to get them to close all the way. The door hinges seems to be a bit delicate, and tend to grow loose rather quickly, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just be careful with it. Robot-Mode The transformation into robot-mode was is a little tricky at first only because of a difficult to decipher instruction guide (although on second thought, maybe it was just me). Just as he looked great as a car, Bumblebee looks great in his robot form. Very good job on capturing the chunky-yet-stylish look of the film, and the articulation is the best I've seen on a Bumblebee figure. Moves pretty much like any decently articulated human figure would. His right hand cannon works very well and comes with missiles that will most likely get lost very quickly, but you can attach them to the undersides of his arms. One complaint is that the robotic details of the figure are rather flat in dimension. Some light dry-brushing would take care of it. But my biggest complaint is that Bumblebee's head comes off with the slightest amount of movement. I had to glue mine on permanently. On a side note, his functional battle-mask is a nice detail. After the first time you transform the figure, it get's incredibly easy. I thought I might break some of the parts on the first time through, mainly when it came to changing the legs. The parts hold up well, but it does take a bit of "umph" to get some pieces into position. Sam The Sam Witwicky figure is good for it's size (2 inches), and it has pretty good articulation as well. His head turns 360 degrees, arms do as well, and he bends at the knees and hips. It takes a bit of work to make him fit into the car properly, but I keep him out most of the time anyway. A very good purchase overall, but it would be even better if it was cheaper. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
