Spider-Man (Toy Biz) (Toy Biz)People all over the world loved Spiderman when he wore the black suit, and after he went back to wearing his original costume, someone decided to make a blacksuit figure. Great, but they did a very very bad job.
Black Suit Spidey stands at 5 inches tall with all basic articulation, including full range of movement at the shoulders. He's dressed the same way as he appeared on the cartoon, painted all black with white eyes, patches on his hands, and spider symbols on his chest and back. The quality of the spider symbol varies from figure to figure. Some are clearly painted while some are blurry at the edges. Look before you buy. The eyes and patches always seem to be at an acceptable quality. The suit is good but the body isn't. The arms and legs are fine but his main body is large and bulky and way to muscular. He's barrelchested! The dark Spiderman on the cartoon was still the thin, lean guy he always was. When did you ever see Spiderman with a barrel chest! His chest is so huge because there is a small winch-like device in it. A piece of his chest pops out which is attached to some plastic strands. You can pull out the chest piece and the strands slowly roll up back inside the figure. They roll up very slowly and the whole process makes an annoying noise the whole time, kind of like a mosquito's whine.
Black Spidey also comes with a black rubber web and a collector's pin. The web can be used for a diorama somewhere and the pin is actually pretty nifty. If you want to get a Black Suit Spiderman then do NOT buy this one. This one is too bulky and off-model. The good news is that the thin version of the Black Suit Spiderman WAS made! Too bad it is hard to find, which leaves collectors settling for this one...
