B.A.T. G.I. Joe - Classified (Hasbro)YO JOE! G.I. Joe has been around for years, but I've just now been getting into it. I got the original cartoon on DVD, and I've also gotten a few of the "Classified Series” figures, including this one. The packaging is the standard for the line, and is outfitted with some nice illustrations and graphics. There's also a number on the left of the box, but it feels unnecessary to me to number these. The box is easy to open, with only a single strip of tape to remove. Standing around 6 3/4” tall, the B.A.T. is similar in appearance to the original figure from the 80s, with some different details such as the grenades and cybernetics on the chest. The wrinkled clothes and detailed metal arms look good, and the paint is pretty clean, though some wash on the clothes and metal would help make this figure "pop" a bit more. The belt with gun holster is a separate piece, and it doesn't affect the articulation. The B.A.T. is lucky enough to get an extra head, though that one shows it wasn't lucky in battle. A good chunk of the helmet has been taken off, revealing the robotic eye and head underneath. It looks great, and swapping it with the regular head isn't too hard to do. Hasbro does a great job with articulation nowadays, and the B.A.T. is a prime example of that. It has a ball-jointed head, neck, and waist, swivel/hinge shoulders with pectoral hinges, swivel biceps, thighs, and boots, double-hinged elbows and knees, swivel/hinge wrists and ankles, ab crunch, and ball-socket hips with a hinge connecting them to the pelvis, allowing for extra range. There's some tightness to the elbows, but other than that, the figure moves well, and there's plenty of poses it can take. The original figure had a backpack and three different arm attachments, and those have been remade for this figure. The pack plugs into the back with a peg, and the different attachments - claw, gun, and torch, go into the arms easily, as well as the pack. A simple pistol is also included, hence the holster, along with two different chest plates. There's a regular one, and one that's badly damaged, going perfectly with the alternate head. This is the first G.I. Joe figure I got, and it's a great one to start with. While the appearance could've been a little better, the articulation and accessories are great, and it's inexpensive as well, making it all the more tempting to army-build. I usually don't as to save money and I see no reason to get more than one of the same figure, but I just might have to make an exception. - 7/19/22 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
