Brain Animaniacs (Super7) (Super7)As I've stated, you can't keep Pinky and the Brain apart, so I had to get the genius part of the pair next. Befitting his name, the Brain has a really big head. Super7 managed to convert his appearance to three dimensions very well, with all the proper details. It's solid plastic as well, making it one heavy cranium. The head is the standard grumpy Brain look, but it can be swapped out for a more expressive head, with the right eye and mouth wide open. Looking at it, you can just hear Brain's trademark "Yes!". Both heads have consistent paint work, but suffer from uneven edges. In contrast to Pinky's tall and slender build, the Brain is short and chubby. Standing around 4 1/2" inches, the proportions of the body fit with the head, and his tail, unlike Pinky's, isn't designed to lay on the ground, so it'll look good no matter how you pose it. Like Pinky, the body isn't painted, but the colors of the plastic used for the hands and feet blend in well with the paint on the head. Also like Pinky, the forearms and legs lack the detail of the fur ending before reaching the wrists and ankles, and I wish that was corrected for the final figure. Brain has similar articulation to Pinky, with ball/socket joints at the head, waist, hips, and tail, and swivel/hinge joints for the shoulders, elbows, wrists, and ankles. Because of the leg design, he has no knee joints, but you can manage some very nice arm poses, even though the elbows are a little tight. One area I would be really careful with is the ankles. The pegs are pretty thin on them, and I ended up breaking off the left foot when I tried to force the joint. Another issue is that his big, solid head interferes with his ability to stand, so use a base if you have one on-hand. Just like his partner in crime, Brain is well-outfitted with extras to aid him in global domination. Aside from the extra head, he has nine hands total: 2x relaxed, 2x closed, 2x tight grip, 2x wide grip (left and right are different sculpts), and a grasping right. The hands on him swap a lot easier than with Pinky, and that's a plus. The head can get in the way of swapping hands, so pop that off before doing anything else. For stuff that isn't interchangeable parts, there's a paper clip and a pointer, both of which fit in the proper hands really well, along with blueprints for the same thing he does every night. There's also three beakers of varying sizes and colors, and he can hold those as well. The big thing here is the magnet, coming from the intro. At 5 1/2" tall, it's hollow plastic, but has nice work on the paint, and the cords running into it are a soft, rubbery material. The lever can move, of course, and the magnet can rotate as well. While the magnet is a great piece, my personal favorite accessory is the globe keyring, coming from "A Pinky and the Brain Christmas." It's not just an accessory; it's an actual keyring, and Brain can hold it by the chain. It would've been nice if it was solid plastic instead of hollow, but I can live. Brain's a pretty nice figure on his own, albeit with a few flaws and things to be mindful of, such as the ankle pegs, but nevertheless is a very nice release. And if you have Pinky, there's plenty you'll be able to do with the two together. While getting the Warner siblings is cool and all, the mice are the real hook for the line, and if you want to limit yourself, those two will be all you need. 3/26/23 Update: I got a replacement for this guy for a good deal yesterday. The left ankle moved fine, but the post isn't in the leg all the way. The right ankle was stuck tight, though, so I poured some hot water on it to get it moving. Whilst still not without his issues, it was nice to get a new one. - 3/5/23 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
