Power (Chainsaw Man) Review
Power
Chainsaw Man (Bandai)Even though both Good Smile and Tamashii Nations putting out Chainsaw Man products, the latter has clearly proved the better option for most. The S.H. Figuarts line has handled the designs better, with more articulation and somewhat better prices. I had the figma Denji/Chainsaw Man on pre-order before cancelling in favor of the Figuarts, but the figma Power I didn't bother with, since the Figuarts looked so much nicer. At least Good Smile's the only one doing an Aki figure right now.

By default, Power bears a fitting sinister expression for someone as maniacal as her, with her crosshair-like pupils, sharp teeth, and horns giving away the fact that she's not human. Tamashii captured her look very well, with clean printing for the pupils and realistic wash for her hair, but the paint for the horns where they meet the hair are slightly uneven; it's passable, but it's noticeable on a line that usually has very clean paint. As with most Figuarts, Power has plenty of face options besides her grin, specifically four extra - an open mouth smile, a shouting face, a more worrisome expression, and one close to tearing up. All of them look great, and swap with no issues.

Standing about 5 3/4" up to her horns, Power has the usual Public Safety shirt and tie, but with one lower side of the shirt draped over her pants. She's a bit of a wild child (and given that she hates baths and vegetables, the child part is almost literal), and her clothing reflects that, with rolled up pant legs, sneakers similar to Denji's, and a blue jacket with the right side hanging loosely around her shoulder. To work around this design, the loose part of the jacket is sculpted as part of the arm rather than the torso, and the other half of the collar is on a ball-peg, which assists in various poses. The outfit looks great overall thanks to detailed wrinkles and clean colors, with the few areas where colors meet up (like the pant cuffs and sneakers) sporting clean edges.

Power gets all the articulation she needs for devil fighting action. In addition to the usual barbell head and single-ball-peg neck, the long hair moves on a hinge, so it can flow in dynamic poses. The shoulders are unusual, being swivel/hinge/ball joints connected to hinged couplings inside the torso, and said couplings being on ball pegs. This many joints allow for a large range of arm poses, aided by swivel biceps (including a separate swivel for the loose jacket piece), double-hinged elbows, and revolver joint wrists (a hinge with swivels on both ends). The sleeve cuffs also turn with the wrist joints, making them easier to pose. The rest is near-similar to Chainsaw Man, with barbell chest, ball waist, swivel/hinge hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, revolver ankles, and hinged toes. The joints feel great in-hand, and all move with ease, letting you put Power into almost any pose.

Power comes with a rather big amount of accessories, and for just a few extra bucks than Chainsaw Man, you're getting your money's worth. In addition to the extra faceplates, Power also comes with six sets of hands - closed, gripping, grasping, relaxed, splayed, and peace sign. The hands pop on and off with a bit of force, so I would advise heating them up before swapping to reduce any risks. A couple of her blood weapons are included, consisting of two combat knives, a hammer, and a big mallet. They all look great with her, and the mallet being hollow instead of solid makes it less likely to weigh down anything. Rounding things out is Meowy, Power's beloved pet cat. The sculpt and paint on him are good, and can be held in his owner's arms.

I'd argue that Figuarts Power is one of the best figures ever made, and for good reason; her great sculpt, plentiful articulation, and great accessories give you plenty of do with her, and she'll make a fine addition to the shelf, especially alongside other Chainsaw Man figures. Hopefully Tamashii keeps up with these figures, because there's plenty worth incorporating. Maybe a casual Power with her "smart" glasses and a toilet?
