Krusty the Clown Simpsons (Super7) (Super7)Given that Krusty's the most merchandised man in Springfield, it's no surprise he'd get the Ultimate treatment. Krusty appears how he almost always does, in his clown makeup. Without it, he'd look like Homer but with more hair. The default portrait is the stock happy Krusty face, with clean paint and good texture on the hair, but his other two heads reflect his off-air personality. One catches him in the middle of a scream of agony/frustration, with mouth wide open and squiggly tongue, and the other is a bored, grumpy Krusty. All three heads look great, and fit the character perfectly. The last head was originally going to be a more annoyed look smoking a cigarette, but Disney told them no smokes, so they had to replace it (hopefully Krusty's wearing a nicotine patch). Standing about 7 1/4" tall, Krusty is dressed in his usual t-shirt, green pants, and big clown shoes, curled up a bit near the front. The simple outfit is done well here, but it's paint that's the problem. There's a lot of bleed on the bowtie and gloves, some chipped-off paint on the left sleeve, and a bit of purple rub-off on the pants. The shirt color seems to have been painted on, and it's notable if you look inside of it, but the front is neater than the back. To the naked eye, though, the finish looks good, with no obvious shine to the figure. The Ultimate Krusty moves more than any previous figure of him, with barbell head and waist, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles, ball-jointed hips, and swivel shins. The joint tolerances aren't as good as Bartman, though, as some joints were stuck a bit out of box, like the waist and one of the knees, while a few others were somewhat loose, like the hips and wrist swivels. Hopefully mine's just a one-off issue and not a widespread one, but other than that, he poses great. Krusty certainly wins in the accessory department, with plenty of appropriate goodies. The two extra heads are great and swap easily, and there's also seven hands: 2x relaxed, 2x splayed, 2x gripping, and an extra right holding a drink glass. Like any clown, he comes with a pie to throw, and a microphone as well. A box of Krusty-O's is also included, as is the jagged metal Krusty-O from "Round Springfield" (whose idea was it to pack dangerous metal with cereal?!). Krusty's chimp sidekick Mr. Teeny is packed in as well, and he looks great aside from some marks on the eye. His head can turn side to side, but joints on the arms would've been nice to adjust the pose a bit more. My favorite accessory here is the robe, made out of a high-quality feeling soft goods material, and can be worn on and tied around the figure with ease. The "smoke-less" renders didn't show it, making me worried it was cut, but thankfully it stayed. Paint and joint imperfections aside, Krusty's a fun figure aided by plenty of fitting extras. Getting prominent side characters like him is just as important as getting the Simpsons family (shame Super7 didn't focus on doing them until it was too late), as they help build up the world a lot more. If only they were able to get out a Sideshow Bob before the license was lost… - 3/24/24 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
